Great stuff. Do you have a "cheat" sheet for jealous devil for the wsm 22. About how much lump would you use for 15# brisket. Or 5#bird 10# pork butt. My question is whether it's worth the extra expense. I think it's about $46 a bag on Amazon. I guess I've just used Kingsford Blue Label for so many years.. It's hard to pull the trigger at $50 a bag after tax.
@95SLE5 жыл бұрын
Try a bag and see for yourself. I am no expert and I am honing my BBQ skills. I use a WSM for a smoker. My findings were interesting, to me, when using JD. The fire is definitely hotter and the charcoal does last longer. I now just use the minion method when smoking on my WSM and try to keep the fire as controlled as possible. I use less charcoal for the same burn time with JD. I use JD for the brisket and port shoulder cooks that take a longer time to smoke. For ribs and other short time cooks I still use Kingsford. There is a lot less ash with JD and I see that as a plus because I do not have to empty my ash bucket as much. FYI, I clean my grill after every use. I purchase the Kingsford Blue Label at BJ's club and the cost is close to 60% less than JD but I still find value in JD. Try a bag and see if you can tell the difference, honestly I did see a difference in the amount of charcoal used, the easier to control temp of the smoker and less ask to clean up.
