I eat crawfish a lot since I live in Louisiana, and I do think it's fine however you peel it as long as you get the meat, but I've ended up doing the second method you mentioned ever since I was taught it as a kid. It's one thing as a restaurant, but crawfish boils are always first come first serve (unless you're a child and physically can't peel it yourself). You have to be able to peel the crawfish quick to be able to eat enough to be full before they're all gone lol. I don't personally eat the meat from the claws because I don't think it's worth the extra effort, so I always give them to my sister

I tend to use all ways to do it. But we usually cook them at home and I get a pot of water simmering with celery/onion/garlic and carrots going and all shells and claws not eaten go right in for a couple hours to simmer. Then I strain and reduce and add heavy cream and use as a base for faux lobster bisque lol. Or shrimp or what ever seafood I have on hand. Bonus second meal! Oh you can make it spicy too if you like and add bell peppers and hot peppers. If you thicken the bisque it makes a killer pasta sauce. I squeeze all the flavors I can out of those expensive little suckers lol. Thanks for sharing your videos. But darn girl they make me hungry and all I have on hand is chili from Wendy's lol. I'll pretend its fancy and add cheese 🤣🥰

Did you know that crawfish come to the shallowest parts of the shoreline at night to sleep? I had no idea until last summer, I have lived on the lake my entire life, but I happened to be on the shore around midnight last summer and shined my flashlight at the water and saw like 100 crawfish. They were in 1-4 inches of water, they kind of jam themselves on the shallow side of rocks, so the waves don't push them around. I hadn't ever considered where they sleep but yeah. They all come close to shore. Easy pickings lol. Just don't shine your light if you're trying to catch them. It wakes them up and they'll scoot away.

the thing I (kinda) hate with shellfish is that how they're weighed is kinda unfair for me, like price-wise. The outer shell/peel is included whereas you're just gonna throw them away as you're just after the meat inside, like you paid for something that you're just gon throw away after. Nonetheless, still love shrimps so much! Don't mind my confusing sentiment 🙉🤣

Back when I used to eat meat I would start off the same way you would, but I would brake the sides of the tail and then you can easily take off the bottom part and take out the tail... also, I'd suck out the meat from the legs and the movable part of the pincers and just crack open the biggest part of the pincers
@vilouthphommajack

I push the tail towards the head and that cracks it open then you can slide the tail off. And there you have the meat

I make my crawfish extremely hot! Lol, not for the faint of heart!! Please note: Please do not pay $6.00 to $10.00/lb for boiled crawfish, that is worse than highway robbery!! I live in Houston, Texas, but originally from NOLA. I usually boil all three, together, crawfish, crabs and shrimp; As with any food you cook, if it's not seasoned with a good flavor and your food tastes the way paper looks, it's useless. Why do most people cook with only salt and regular black pepper?, There's to many seasonings on the shelf at the grocery stores; Please buy and use them. You can't go wrong with Zatarain's Products.
