I think you matched the aesthetics very well while still making it fit to you.

I've only heard of three of the aesthetics (faerie/academia/cottage) and the other three I can understand the look but hadn't heard of before your video. One of my best friends is really into Tik tok, as is a granddaughter, so I'm trying really hard to understand the appeal. It seems to me it's just too fast and too loud, I'd rather have the slower speed of a youtube video or the simpleness of an IG photo. Apparently I'm just OLD. LOL. Although I haven't given up yet. My friend assures me I just have to steer the algorithm into offering me videos I will really like, so I shall persevere. My favorite contemporary DA book that I've read to date is If We Were Villians. Author Charles de Lint is what I'd probably recommend for faeriecore. The first thing that springs to mind for cottagecore is The Secret Garden, or maybe Jane Austen.

I cant wait to read Catherine House it sounds brilliant! For dark academia a book coming out in August that fits in that category is How we fall apart by Katie Zhao, dark academia with Asian main characters!

I think you did a great job, both in your outfits and your book recommendations! I'm excited to read all these books, especially Sunset Song and Catherine House! I remember reading the Uglies book/series in middle school in the 2005 - idk if it just reminds me of y2k because that was during y2k but it was one of my favorite starter sci-fi books at the time and I'd definitely recommend the series

This really brings back some memories! In Dutch it was just called Wicca and I got a bunch from the library every week when I was younger. 11-year-old me was madly in love with Hunter... Such a fun and creative video @Jean Bookishthoughts !

@@nessalossehelim5026 yeeeess!! It was called Wicca in the UK too but apparently it’s just Sweep the US title everywhere now which confused me greatly aha.

I'm 31 and was completely enthralled with the Sweep series too! Almost no one talks about it though! I actually really like all of Cate Tiernan's series. It's one of the few series I still go back and reread for the nostalgia.

I'm not familiar with tiktok, but for the Y2K (aka my teenage years) I really liked the Wind Singer trilogy by William Nicholson, so underrated. For dark academia I also enjoyed Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo because it kinda opened the genre up a little bit with a main character that is not typical elite university material. But a lot of people disliked it, too. :D
