So why didn't you do a long time ago what Norway Chess did in Stavanger?

It always makes me laugh seeing these kinds of statements. "WE (clap) CAN (clap) DO (clap) BETTER" How? There's all ready separate women tournaments. Women get special privileged access to clubs, titles, tournaments, training, camps, etc. Should we just set a quota that there must be as many female GMs as there are male GMs? Maybe we could have some 1700 elo women GMs. Have you ever considered that perhaps women just don't enjoy chess as much as men do? And the men who do enjoy chess are much better than the handful of women who enjoy chess? Kinda funny how these pushes for equality only go one way too. You don't see any pushes to equalize gender imbalances in nursing or the draft or at knitting clubs or hair styling or anywhere else that women dominate the field. Probably because then people have the much more sane realization that women just like those fields more and therefore dedicate more time to becoming proficient at it than the average man.

Being a professional chess player seems to require an obsessive mentality and sacrifice of social life that is 1) not appealing to most people and 2) appealing to even fewer women than men. "Maybe we could have some 1700 elo women GMs." This challenge doesn't come with any controversial "handicapping" (e.g. women's titles). GM is 2500 FIDE and 3 norms whether you're a man, woman, or purple people eater. It suits me just fine to see more strong American women compete, without any ideological expectation of gender parity.

Im fine with women playing men in chess. Women need their own category which they do. It wouldnt be as inspiring for more women to play as there wouldnt be as many championships and titles for them. More women should get into the game. If there was only one category it wouldnt end well for them. Usually the best dont break the top 100 or 50 men very often. If more women play can get a few more in the top 100. Keep a category strictly for them. Real ones born that way. Pia cramling was a beast of a player in her heyday. Her daughter Anna is decent but not nearly as good as her mother or father. Both GMS
