I try to fix problems with my 89 Dodge van. I am not a mechanic,however I like and understand mechanical things ( just enough to be dangerous ) . I watch these visions because of my limited knowledge of automotive engineering. You are the best teacher. You explain and pay attention to detail. Because of you I can now finish working on my fuel pump. It had been dismantled by a nut and left for junk along with my old ugly van with racing flames. Thank you so much. Your one smart dude, professor!$!

No big deal with the spider gear as long as it's not damaged and it's got it's cupped washer on the back and kept clean...nice job man.
@HFG2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! There weren't any cupped washers installed behind that gear. I'm not an expert or anything, but nothing else was in the case or on the floor 🤷🏽♂️

This is a great video - Thanks to you I just replaced both rear axle bearings on my '99 Cherokee XJ. Trickiest bit was getting the new bearings/seals in - that took some hammering! This is a great guide for someone who hasn't done the job before, and really appreciated - thank you!

I'm glad the video helped you!! That's awesome. Yeah, the seals and bearings can be stubborn! 👊🏼👊🏼

pull the bearing and seal at the same time. no need to do the seal first then the bearing all come out at the same time.

Great video! Did you notice that the brake adjuster wheel was installed backwards? The lever arm doesn't contact the teeth.

I sure didn't!! Thanks! I wasn't even paying attention to those. Nice catch 👊🏼👊🏼 looks like I'll be taking it apart again.

If i think there is reason a bearing dont seem in it's fit like you were showing at 11:16 i put green loctite on it for press fits ensures it dont spin

Video quality was excellent! Great video! Thank you... Later year Cherokee use a different design for wheel bearings that axle retainment, that doesn't use the C-clips on the end... Thet actually use the "bearing assembly" itself, to hold the drive axle in place...

See my video on this subject. I show how to use the pin to keep the gears from falling out. Also I had a similar vibration so I took my driveshaft and had it Balanced for about 50.00. Completely solved the vibration issue
@HFG2 жыл бұрын
Will do 👍🏼👍🏼 I'll check it out. Probably a great idea to have these shafts checked out. I didn't have the issue until I put the lift on but who knows. Thanks for the tip!

Vibration usually from the driveshaft.
@HFG2 жыл бұрын
That's what I figured too. It's only apparent now after the lift was installed.

@@HFGyes the vibrations, I’m having the same issue

@@abrahambarkhordar5572 im pretty sure it's the u-joints or a pinion angle since the problem didn't start until I installed the lift.

Yessir. I think the tires are good. The vibration started after I installed the lift. I'll get some more ujoints 👊🏼👊🏼

new subscriber. Did this work out? The gears falling out would scare me. I want to attempt this myself but just want to make sure everything is pretty straight forward for putting it back together ?
@HFG Жыл бұрын
Hey! Welcome to the channel. Yup, everything worked out fine and it's been running great ever since. The job isn't too bad, but you do need the puller. The only thing that still bothers me is that the left axle didn't slide in and out smoothly afterwards while installing the C clips. Which probably means that I didn't fully seat the bearing and it's a little cocked in the housing. Not a terrible job though. 👍🏼👍🏼
