Good info. I’m getting ready to move from NC to eastern WA and I’ll be towing my boat (4800 lbs). I’ll have one mountain pass in NC/TN and two out west, Homestake in MT and 4th of July in northern Idaho. 4th of July pass is the really steep one heading westbound on I90.

I believe the 7000 lbs is for the sport models. I think the Rubicon is rated less. I may be incorrect. I am glad to hear it handled it. I love mine.

Try the tekonsha 90250 wireless brake controller, expensive but worth it $280. I bought it for my gladiator when pulling a dump trailer.

MY 89 HEAVY DUTY SUBURBAN MAX TOWING IS 7600LB BUT MY PAY LOAD IS 2500LB. I SEE ALL THIS NEWER SUV THAT CAN TOW ALOT BUT THERE PAY LOADS FOR THE SUV YOU WANT IS LOW. GVW IS 8600LB SO IT CAN TOW MORE AN HAS. THEY ALL SO MADE AN SUBURBAN THAT HAD AN HIGHER PAY LOAD AN TOWING. IF YOU HAD THE BIG BLOCK GAS AN THE FULL FLOATING REAR END THEY COULD TOW UP TWO 12000LB. THAT WAS NEAR THE END WHEN THEY STOP MAKING 2500 SUBURBANS ALL SO NEAR THE END 2500 AVALANCHE CAME WITH THE BIG BLOCK 496 AN IT HAD A MAX TOWING OF 12000 LB. SO IF YOU LIKE THE WAY IT TOWED AN IT DID THE JOB THEN SO BE IT BUT SOME MAY SAY. YA WRITE???? I THEN TOWED WITH PRETTY MUCH ALL THE CHEVY V8 AN THEY ALL DID THE JOB.

thanks for this video..was it able to hold 8th gear towing on flat ground? and what gear was it climbing and RPMs if you remember. I just bought a Sport S with the max tow and LOVE this truck..I do miss the shortness of my JK off road but the ride is FANTASTIC

it held 8th on flat. worst rap. was 5000 on a hill that was steep

@@vegasdavetv thanks for your reply..when in southern cal (which is where i live) did you take interstate 10 , 40 or the 8? all three have some big grades so if it could haul that load at speeds over 55 or better i am impressed..I can wait to tow with it..

did the falkins do well on the snow and ice? how were the seats during the trip? any issues with radio or climate controls?

no issues at all on the trip, I did notice the stitches in one corner of drivers seat is coming apart, warranty that. handling, ride, comfort all good
