I just had the same issue with my Liberty. After replacing UJoint it’s been much better.

Why not do the front ones while you have it off?
@mikedavis11272 жыл бұрын
I typically use a thin flathead screwdriver to uncrimp the boot clamps. They'll normally recrimp with no issue as long as you don't work harden them with more bending than necessary. Same goes for cv boot clamps

Great video, just changed the Seal on the Differential and after i mounted back the Drive Shaft it started to VIBRATE and i went underneath to verify it has exactly the same symptoms as yours.I will comment after repair.

choco caroche how about an update? I’m currently diagnosing my Liberty with a similar vibration but mine squeaks at 5 mph then turns into a rumble at 40 - 55 mph... I’ve done tires and brakes... now for the U-joints

I do like your videos but have to make this comment I do not now where you live but wherever it is they must salt the roads a lot in winter as I have never seen a drive shaft or other moving parts with so much rust on them you need to clean it off and spray some oil wax on it to stop it getting any worse. I live in the UK and they do love putting lots of salt down on the roads at the first signs of frost or snow but my 2007 2.8 CRD liberty /cherokee as they are called over here but I have next to no rust on it thank god keep up the good work.

weaton25 thank you so much for the kind words and you are absolutely right we live in the northeast united states and we get pretty nasty winters here so they use tons of salt in our roads unfortunately. Although the majority of the jeep is pretty decent compared to other vehicles that year in our region it's basically just the underside that needs a good cleaning up. . We're glad to have your comment thanks again!

Git It Garage My UK Jeep XJ 4.0 1998 has rusted axles driveshafts just like this - what do Chrysler use for rustproofing - spray on Jello? It's mostly surface rust & the unibody frame is generally still pretty solid but it looks awful - already started treatment with Waxoyl Underseal for next Winter...Thanks for the video btw

Instead of pounding on the caps after you have the ujoint pressed in with the vice put it back in the vice using the socket to press them in the rest of the way.

You've obviously done alot of work on your Jeep. I'm trying to diagnose what's going on with my 4-wheel drive, if you could help, that would be awesome. When its engaged, it makes a weird clunking noise when I hit the gas and start moving. Any idea what that is? Hoping it's something I can fix myself
@scottlinn13505 жыл бұрын
mine did the same. its not engaged all the way into 4 wheel drive.check your gromet on the transfer to see if its wore or just not there.

I am fighting a driveline vibration ,, put new Moog super strength u-joints in still vibrating on decel.. it is super smooth tell above 50 then you get decel vibration.. now when ya get above 60 mph there is no vibration you can feel but it has that vibration hum that radiates threw the cab of the jeep.. it is a liberty 2006 no lift brand new tires balanced and rotated them in case of a bad tire they are all good.. oh and had pinion seal changed at dealership and there is no play in rear yoke at all nice and tight..now i can push up on the end of the slip yoke / output shaft at the transfer case and there is some play there if i push hard up and down there is a little bit of a clunking sound and some play .. could that be the cause ? Or is there supposed to be play there ? Cant find any answers on here or the internet.. is that slip yoke supposed to be tight ? Or if it’s the output shaft of transfer case is there supposed to be play there or is that supposed be tight? I was thinking of taking off the rear driveshaft and driving it to see if it vibrates or not can i drive in 4wd with no driveshaft ? Any help will be greatly appreciated..thanks in advance..
@sethdae4 жыл бұрын
That's the problem. There should be no play on any of the u joints. Even a very small amount of movement will cause a vibration.
@PhatboyHD884 жыл бұрын
sethdae it turns out the problem was the brand new driveshaft was bad.. changed the driveshaft with a good American made one that was all balanced and waa laa its like driving a new jeep again..
@hoodedgood4 жыл бұрын
Dont pound a ujoint (9 times out of 10 its totally fine) you can damage the shaft. Use a ujoint/balljoint press.
@greatwhitenorthrc5093 жыл бұрын
I’ve been pounding out u joints for 20 years and have never damaged a drive shaft.

Would a bad U joint cause a vibration from the rear? Mine makes a terrible noise but only when I’m going 45mph - 50mph
@iflyil3 жыл бұрын
Any update for your case?
@matthewward58493 жыл бұрын
@@iflyil Yes, turned out to be a bad u-joint. Took the driveshaft off, replaced both u-joints and bam. Noise went away and also stopped shaking. Hope this helps.

I know this video is a few years old. I have a 04 Jeep Liberty at 40 miles per hour I will get a vibration. And then noticed I had a code a PO 700 and a po740 it said torque converter or torque converter clutch solenoid but I'm thinking that it's the U-joints that's actually causing it

i just put a motor driven cooling fan on my jeep liberty limited edition 4x4 im putting a fan shroud on it and a new front drive shaft!!
@imfromcaliforniaimfromcali28936 жыл бұрын
Dang you need to lube the shit out rear drive shaft so it can slide back and forth on transfer case side.. Torque changes angle of pinion not good. Springs and shocks can not hold it from twisting. New Bilstiens would help. Pb blast underneath the rubber boot on driveshaft or take apart and grease that sucker.

Hey the bog round thing on the driveshaft , is that a Harmonic balancer thats supposed to balance the drive shaft ? I have a slight vibration from 54 mph to 57 mph ujoints all good pinion tight it is definatley driveline took it to the dealer and they cant find anything wrong but none the less they felt it also ,, it is slight ya feel it mostly on the center console and a little in your butt.. so i was wondering if that is a balancer or what that was for , forgot to ask dealership
@mikedavis11272 жыл бұрын
It's a oscillating frequency damper. "Helps" tune out some of the rotational harmonics. It doesn't do a heck of a lot. Out of a sample of a thousand or so, I can think of a few who found it beneficial to put them back on that were removed from previous owners - but I can't think of anyone that took it off - then decided it needed to go back on. It may be something that's only noticable when running low rolling resistance Street tires - the average noise of an AT or more aggressive tire likely drowns out any real benefit of it being there.
