Now that the rear spring, control arms, and shocks are in from the Iron rock Off road kit it is time to upgrade the rear sway bar. I bought an Addco Heavy Duty rear sway bar from Iron rock Off Road and will be installing it. Stay tuned for more to come! -Enjoy!

Wrap the sway bar with a couple wraps of teflon tape. It'll stop the sway bar from squelching with polyurethane bushings. Lubricants eventually will get pushed out.

You cannot drive that thing in the winter!! It's too nice! If you do, you must engage 4x4, and drive though a 7,000 gallon pit of FLUID FILM first, right up mid-door level - just be sure to run a case of brake clean over those pads/rotors & shoes/drums afterwards, to avoid the surprise. 😁 That thing's gonna be a mean machine when it's done! I can see it now! 👍👍

All the comments about the shocks....Bilsteins are to be mounted with the labeling upright in a readable position, he has them right. One of the best things you can do for the ride BTW, along with the Addco bar. I have a 3" lift on my 04 WJ with the Addco bar, Bilsteins and Iron Rock springs, handles MUCH better than stock ever did.

I have the 5100s on my Sierra & that is how I have mine installed. The lable should not be upside down when reading it. I’ve heard that you can have the boot on top, but the shock may not last as long.

they have "inverted" and "standard" direction shocks. those are inverted models. having any shock the wrong way will make the valving work wrong ( the rebound and compression are at different rates), also the gas charge will be at/in the valving and mixing with the oil into a further frothy useless mess. lesson here? Always make sure shocks/struts are mounted the right direction or they will not work right and likely get damaged! ;)

Eric, I just hope all the expense and effort results in a car that you enjoy driving. My gut feeling is that the increase in the centre of gravity relative to the roll centres necessary to achieve the extra ground clearance will compromise the handling and road holding especially when cornering. I am interested to know how all this turns out.

Get rid of those tin diff. covers when you install lockers, that cheap ass rubber plug that almost always seems to weep. I have greaseable front sway bar saddles, came from Kevins off road I think. BTF diff. covers look nice but be sure to use SS bolts/allen head hardware

Ok, so the plot thickens.... on another video you complained about not being able to dial out handling issues, but: if you had to fiddle about to get the rear sway bar in at full stretch (car hanging up in the air), what's to say things aren't binding up on you with the car down on the ground because you snugged stuff up at almost full droop either end. How about just loosening off the whole setup, then doing things back up when the suspension is actually bearing the weight of the car? -that might do something for you.

Nice upgrades, however, I never use anti-seize on the bolt going thru the bushings. I prefer to use high temp caliper grease. Anti-seize transmits noise, as it contains metals. I do use anti-seize on the threads though.

I just bought an 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee, not sure if I will want to off road but I may, nothing crazy though. So my question is I have sway in the rear when driving, it has a 2" lift. Sould I buy off road or oem? I here the axel needs to be new oil every 12 thousand miles that seems excessive.

Hey Eric O! I saw your comment on the launch pros mini video earlier today. I replied to your comment, and said I was looking forward to seeing more videos on the Jeep. In your comment on that video you said you owned the same model launch, but I thought the model you had was the diagun iv. Who knows maybe you have both! Haven't seen you use a pros mini on the channel yet though. I was really wondering if it was worth the extra $300 for the pros mini, or if the diagun iv has the same features. If you know I'd really love to get your opinion on it cause I can't decide what model I want. Mostly because I'm not sure if the pros mini is worth the extra money or not. If anybody else that might know has any suggestions I'd love some opinions on it. I've never used either one. The only high end scan tool I've used has been a Tech 2.

Hey guys I thought this might be a decent time to ask since it's a Jeep video. But I just recently inherited a 02 cherokee 4.0. It has a loud growling noise coming from the front axle. It sounds dead center. Like a bearing or something metal on metal. I changed the diff fluid to no avail. Could it be the pinion bearing or something and is it common for the bearings in there to go bad? I believe it's a dana 30.
@throttlebottle5906
@throttlebottle5906 6 жыл бұрын
if the sound is steady and doesn't change on or off the gas, then probably a front wheel bearing/hub, it;s hard to tell on them the way the noise radiates. jack the whole thing up, put on jack stands, put in 4WD start, put in gear and run it, you can usually hear where the noise is coming from much better maybe have someone rev it up some to keep it at higher "speed". wheel bearing is a constant airplane like noise, louder and higher pitch with speed. think those are known for the transfer case end of front drive shaft cv also. but that's usually a squeak/vibration more felt through the seat.
