You have been my go to guru for sometime now I never gave the hat any thought. I've been a machinist for 34 years and a jeep guy even longer. I spent a lot of years building jeeps for other people and when I left the machine shop I went to work for 4wheel parts. So I had a feeling you where ok despite the accent.

Nothin' wrong with making mistakes as long as caught and corrected. Did a complete front end on a C1500 this Fall. It was everything including new upper and lower control arms. I put the center link in 180 degrees out of phase. So, off comes all the castle nuts and cotter pins for the necessary flip of the bar. I wish I could say that was the only re-work necessary on the project. But, it all got done and done right.

Hot rod Jeep, oh yeah, lol. I remember a guy borrowed my brother-in-law's Lincoln Continental. Don't know what happened but the airbags were froze in their highest position and looked like your Jeep, lol.Really nice job, Eric. I have a special liking to Jeeps as well. I drove a Jeep for my LT. in the Army. I lived on the same floor as the mechanics and when I did the floor I'd do the whole floor so they wouldn't have to worry about it and got to know them really well. I never put a drop of oil or gas in it, never even opened the hood because they used my Jeep as their toy to go out and beat on and then fix again. I'd go up to get the Jeep and there would be a whole line of people waiting to sign out their vehicles, they'd see me throw me the keys and I'd be on my way. One time My 1st Sgt. told me to follow him out to the field in an APC, (armored personnel carrier for those not familiar). I'd never drove one before. I didn't tell him that, so I just got in the seat, started the engine, saw the shifter and put in drive and just steered with the sticks. I was surprised how easy it was and how smooth it was driving it. A lot different from riding in the back. Saw a sign that said 30 MPH, looked down and we were doing 60. Thanks for taking us on another of your adventures. Greatly appreciated.

I picked up a 1992 XJ with 97,000 km on it. I got a new set of springs for the rear and a 1 3/4 inch spacer on the front coil, but it didn't lift the front enough and it bounced all over the road when it would hit a bump. I was walking through the auto wreckers one day and noticed an xj with heavier springs in the rear so I pulled the front coils.. Win, it lifted my xj up perfectly, and rides a lot nicer. That jeep also had a K&N filter in it $ 3.00 win lol

After a decade and a half in the industry working on ALL makes and models. I always say, dodge is the “easiest/best” to work on. For whatever that’s worth haha. Tits, tracks or tires, it all gives trouble. That being said. I once seen 60k lbs pressure applied to a cv axle stub by a machine press to try and dislodge it from the wheel bearing it was seized into. At that point, we halted the process and sourced a new cv axle, bearing AND knuckle… somewhere in a scrap heap, that ol’ axle bearing n spindle lays together. Amalgamated, now, and forever. Happy motoring n drive safe.

I saw a machinist take a set of allen wrenches, and cut approximately 1" off each one with a power metal saw so that he could use a socket and ratchet to run them down and tighten them. I thought it was an excellent idea. Of course, most of the allen wrenches were fairly large, but not all of them.

It looks like the sort of hot rod that kids did in the early 1970s: their gramma’s Buick with the @ss-end way up in the air but they were too cheap to put bigger tires on t. Loved the line about never-seize - it DOES really get danged near everywhere.

Sweet! Both the wife and I drive WJs. I put the 2" spacer lift on both of them just for the looks. I will never forget pulling those 3 bolts on top of the pumpkin, had to crank um out all the way with a box wrench and a lot of torque. Took me a couple hours on the garage floor. Hope the other Jeep doesn't need that ball joint replaced. Awesome series! Can't wait for more!

When I upgraded from a 3" lift to a 5.5" lift on my 2000 XJ (about 6 years ago) I was shorted a front shock. So while I waited for the other shock I installed the rear lift and drove around for a week with the rear at 5.5" and the front at around 3" (probably 2.75" after sag). So it looked a little like yours at the end... Got some funny looks to say the least but it was also quite fun watching people's reaction.

Brand new, shiny, go-fast!!! NICE!!!! A lift kit with no blocks that go under the springs and 20 inch long U-bolts...and NO HOCKEY PUCKS for a body lift!!! Technology has come a long way lol. Heck, we would just do a spring over. Make the axle mount under the spring, BOOM 5-6 inches of lift. Ahh, how I miss the days Heeps didnt have padded dashes and airbags. Nice build so far Brother!!

I just started watching your videos about 2 weeks ago and really enjoy them. Even though I only work on pre OBD II vehicles, I still like to learn, especially since I know that I'll have to start working on newer vehicles sooner or later. The one thing that bothers me is that you never seem to wear eye protection. I never did either and learned the hard way that I should about 20 years ago when I got a metal shaving in my right eye. Now, I have scar tissue in my right eye that even prescription glasses can't fix. I wear a full face shield now. Please start using eye protection. Keep the videos coming tho!

Coming along great, one thing I found is that your shock boots need to facing downwards so that water can't get in and sit on the seals where the piston slides in. Another thing I did was replace the factory upper shock bolts because they taper down and cause a rattling sound over bumps. I think I used m12x.75 because the shank doesn't taper down but I can't remember. It's on my build page WJ Overland Build.
