www.les-paul.com/ - An amazing jam with Jeff Beck & Les Paul. Two icons live on stage. You MUST see this performance!
Jeff Beck
Jeff Beck is an English rock guitarist. He rose to prominence with the Yardbirds and after fronted the Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Bogert & Appice. In 1975, he switched to a mainly instrumental style, with a focus on innovative sound, and his releases have spanned genres ranging from blues rock, hard rock, jazz fusion and a blend of guitar-rock and electronica.
Beck is considered among the greatest guitar players in history with Rolling Stone, upon whose cover he has appeared three times, describing him as "one of the most influential lead guitarists in rock". He is often called a "guitarist's guitarist".
Beck has earned wide critical praise and received the Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance six times and Best Pop Instrumental Performance once. In 2014 he received the British Academy's Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. Beck has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: as a member of the Yardbirds (1992) and as a solo artist (2009).
Les Paul
Acclaimed as the “Godfather of the Modern Recording Studio,” Les Paul is known for numerous inventions and innovations that changed the way musicians play music, the way engineers record music and the way fans hear music.
Arguably, Les Paul is the most important individual in the history of the modern music industry. His influence is profound, having been a pioneer in the development of the solid body electric guitar as well as numerous recording techniques including multi-track recording, digital delay, reverb, and more.
The Les Paul Foundation inspires innovative and creative thinking by sharing the legacy of Les Paul through support of music education, recording, innovation and medical research related to hearing. Please subscribe, like and share!

Our class at Sutton East witnessed this guy, Jeff Beck at 14 years old (and most of us were 13 years old, - come in with a bundle of wires and bits of wood . It was before the bell as we were in Art Two class that could come in and stay in the class just after lunch. Jeff strode in with this bundle and went straight to the Art store room and sat on the floor. He had come late in the year and he was a mesmerising character, and when he appeared we all watched what he was going to do. The boys that knew him best asked him what he was doing. The message that came back to us was that he was trying to make a guitar. I was a piano player and I found out much later that his Mum made him practise for two hours a day, so he could probably read music. However she did not want him to play "Pop". He wanted to make a guitar, and was desperate, because he could not afford one. Then suddenly I heard about seven blues notes came out of the cupboard. I could hardly believe my ears. When I came back to school I wanted to tell him he would be famous one day but I was too shy. I am so glad it happened and in such a spectacular way! He is the BEST!! Cynthia McLaglen

@@georgestevens1502 I bet the rest of the class remember him. This was in England in the late 1950s. They did not like boasters. We all watched him and another member of the class who boasted about how much money his Dad had made. At the time Jeff could not afford to buy a guitar, & that was tough news, and he did not suffer fools and boasters gladly. When Jeff retorted , we were intrigued but nothing more came of it, and Jeff had said his piece. We all silently agreed with him. We were kids after all and learning how to win an argument .We ALL watched Jeff, & actually the air was electric; our eyes were upon him as soon as he came into class. We were just school kids at 13 years old! Jeff was a year older and a new kid on the block. Cynthia Allen McLaglen

@@dolly5279 Great history. Interesting in that while he had eyes on him for decades, he turned out to be a pretty mellow guy.

RIP Jeff. Of all the guitarists who came to Les' NYC jazz gigs to pay homage to The Man, Jeff was his favorite. I guess that's because Jeff was the best of them. Plus Jeff was a master of playing the melody which was Les' stock in trade.

The date of this special event was NOT LISTED. Searching online, it appears to have occurred only once, in 1983. That is consistent with Beck's youthful age here. The publisher here should confirm the date and location, then add such info to the publisher's notes

I'm remembering something Jeff once said in an interview. He was talking about music in the early 60's. 'Elvis was in the army, Buddy Holly was dead, and rock and roll had been replaced by this horrible V-necked sweater music where everyone was named Frankie or Johnny.' HILARIOUS.

Pretty sure this was from the midnight special in the 70's. I seen it when it first played and out of my 5 channels, that was pretty much the only show that had live music.

What, when & where was this show? Might argue that Les is kind of out of his element playing blues-rock shuffle, but Les has fun in ANY element of music.
