He plays every style. Rock, fusion industrial blues. I would say he's one of the most knowledgeable guitarists of all time. He doesn't have to be the fastest, he is still the best in many different forms. He's unbelievable with a slide. As an example: Randy Rhoads was totally a great player but he doesn't play slide, now listen to Angel and see how he plays, it's unreal how accurate he is. He can always hit his notes way past the fretboard.

Jeff Beck was a fabulous musician and he always seemed to surround himself with the best in the business too. He is definitely missed. RIP Jeff Beck.

I got to be in the room with him 3 times, so I'm thrice blessed. First time, he was touring with a friend of mine from Austin. I was unprepared to say the least. Jeff took me away, just like that friend of HIS from Seattle did! He was one of the last living links and he never wavered. He was fearless. And he was breath-taking. Stunning, shocking, mesmerizing, gorgeous, rude.....take your pick of superlatives. He was all that and more. I got to catch up with him twice more in '99 and '03. I have to say, "Who Else?" is an all time fave of mine. And that stuff live is about as intense as it gets. Jeffie picked up the flag when they cut his friend down and for over 50 years he never stopped progressing. He never stopped getting things out of a Strat that NO ONE ever dreamed of! Jeffie never got old, somehow. He always was out there on the edge of the horizon, exploring. Like he always said, Jimi was in his blood, but Jeff, if not surpassing his friend, he became every bit his equal. I now have to opine, when someone asks who I think the best is, that I believe there are 2 of whom there is no equal. One had a short but impactful life and the other a much longer and fuller one. But that in a lot of ways, they were so alike, if one didn't know otherwise, one would conclude one was copying the other. Both were masters of the instrument. And feedback, distortion, wah, etc. Both had almost reverential respect for those that came before them, while at the same time, zero respect for any and all artificial limits. Both had far ranging tastes in music and brought that in as much as possible. Both were terrific showmen....have you heard the joke about Jeff and the video game, Guitar Hero? He's never played it but he has the All Time Highest Score! Thank you for this wonderful performance Blessings to Everyone L

Wow, just in 2023 the year he passed away (!) Well KZbin is carrying him on. I first saw him in 1976, then ten more times- last in 2014 with Z.Z.Top. He was incredible to experience live. Glad you discovered him. 🎸

Simplemente impresionante. Existieron y existen excelentes guitarristas, pero el nivel y su sonidos posactualizados lo hicieron único. El dijo que llevaba a Jimi en el corazón, yo a Jeff.

This is just 10 of the 14 tunes played at this gig, where he was opening for Sting. I was there (saw the same show at London's Hyde Park a few days later), have the DVD and had the CD. The latter, which I gave away, had all the tunes, though the first four were placed at the end of the set (see below). The audience, a lot of younger people there to see Sting, seemed quite unaware of who Jeff was - during the openng few tunes there was a sense of bewilderment, as in 'Who is this guitar guy?', though they eventually came 'round. In interviews Jeff made it quite clear that he was not happy being an opening act. The missing tunes? Where Were You Earthquake The Pump Blast From the Past And as with the CD, there has been some sequence re-arranging. The CD, 'Blues From a Jazz Place' has 11 tunes, with 8 through 11 actually being the first four tunes of the set. 01 Brush With The Blues 02 Angel 03 Nadia 04 Psycho Sam 05 The Hell If I Know 06 A Day In The Life 07 Goodbye Porkpie Hat ~ What Mamma Said 08 Where Were You 09 Earthquake 10 The Pump 11 Brush With The Blues tracks 1-7 soundboard tracks 8-11 audience

Jeff Beck, the one and only. I didn't know that he played at Montreux Jazz Festival, cool. I saw him with this band touring the 'Who Else' album. Once at the Paramount Theater in Oakland; and at the Warfield Theater in S.F. Both were so outstanding. Saw Jeff leave in Oakland for his bus, with a group of die- hards like myself. We called out and got a wave from the fret master!

I was there, but too bad just for the last 20 minutes of the concert... It was our very first time there, and we've been queuing during a long time for buying the tickets, then lost to another the auditorium. Sting was playing just after with jazzy adaptations, but I was obviously there to hear nobody else but Jeff.

@pierre-andreiff it must have something else, Sting was not part of the shows I went to.

I saw this performance in 2001 ... and again his last performance in Montreux in 2022. The music live is so much better than any recording can ever be. It seems the Wikipedia page for the Montreux Jazz festival list of performers is in error showing "Beck" (a different artist) and not "Jeff Beck".
