This is my hommage to my number one guitar hero Jeff Beck.
I wanted to emulate every nuance of Jeff's playing on 'Cause We've Ended As Lovers' in detail on my fretless 6-string bass. The solo (at 2:42) is my own interpretation. I couldn't resist though to pick up my guitar in the end of the song (at 4:39).
Jeff you will be missed! Enjoy Guitar Heaven....

First witnessed the Jeff Beck group in 68' with Ronnie and Rod, always impressed. Throughout the years Mr. Beck has proven his guitar skills by reinventing his sound, keeping it fresh. A true electric guitar virtuoso. He will be missed.

I was fortunate to see Jeff Beck 14 times, including his last tour last year with Johnny Depp. He was my all time favorite guitarist as well as musician. I am still in disbelief he has died, it hurts me as much as when my Mom died. #RIPJeffBeck #GOATGuitarist #ICON

It hit me hard too. I've cried a lot. It's affected the guitar and music world like we weren't expecting. I can't explain it either, except that a huge hole has been punched through music. Someone said he was "1 of 1", which is succinct but pretty spot on.

Hold on to the thought that it is amazing he made it to 78 and was still playing extremely well. And he knew and inspired and played with s many people over his long life. I'm betting he was a damn good mechanic too. Touching comment Steven Janelli

One of the many reasons we are stunned is because we felt there was so much more music to come from jeff Beck. His career was constantly ascending, and even at 78, we all were excited to hear him at 79, 80, 81, etc. So grateful for his inspiration

No he’s definitely not reading comments on YT lol! I’ve expressed myself in a poignant way that his soul and spirit might capture what I’ve said and how I feel about his death. I’m maybe too much of an empath but there’s probably people out there who can relate to the way I’ve put it after the fact. His family if they read it should get the point of what I’m saying and the impact it’s had on me! Understood? HM Metal forever!! 🤘🏿✌🏼take care man and thanks for the response!!

@@hubertmantz1516 I get you brotha. I just read comments and feel alot of people just make them for show. I can see you are truly affected by his passing like I have been. He was one of my biggest influences of why I wanted to play guitar. I have been referred to as an empath too. EVH was my biggest influence and I don't think I will ever get over that. Jeff B. is affecting me in the same way. Also when Neil Peart of RUSH died it left an empty place. I mean they had such a big part of my upbringing like I'm sure your life was affected too. As a Christian I feel like they had a special God given talent. There are just some levels that can't be practiced. I know they also put in hard time and many hours but reached beyond what can most can do. They touched so many lives. Since we are on the subject I wanted to graciously share what my personal beliefs are as a believer and knowledge on God's word in the bible. Scripture says when one dies the flesh body returns back to dust from which it came and the spirit returns back to God from which it came. The bible says there are 3 heavens. The atmosphere which includes the air we breathe, clouds etc, the heaven which includes outer space (planets, stars etc) and heaven where God dwells with loved ones and it says in another dimension. Once the person's spirit goes to heaven they can't see what goes on here on earth. Alot of people mistakenly think they can look 'down' at loved ones here on earth. Scripture proves this notion is false because it says in heaven there is no pain and suffering. If loved ones could look back down they would be sad to see what their loved ones have to suffer through. The only spirits that can travel through dimensions are God, and angels. Fallen angels which satan and demons are transverse the earth and in the invisible spirit realm since they were cast from heaven. They're ultimate destination being the lake of fire. Of course I don't know if you believe in God but I would like to share the good message as the bible instructs me to share about how God manifested himself as Jesus and came into this world to die on the cross for you and shed his blood because of his love and offer you eternal life. The ONLY way to gain eternal life is believing Jesus died and rose on the 3rd day. He appeared to hundreds of people at the time and he ascended to heaven. Revelation says he will return back to this earth to set up his new kingdom of heaven on a new earth. I hope and pray that you are a believer, my friend. God Bless, my brother, in Jesus's name !!

Thanks for your reply Heavy Metal! Hubert (Hugh) here! I read with interest your reply to my explanation about how I feel about J B’s passing. A very lengthy transcript indeed but made for good reading about the guitar players that influenced you! I must say that I’m with you on all the names you’ve mentioned. I’m going to very quickly mention that I was extremely distraught when Neil Pert of ‘Rush’ passed so suddenly! I was actually shocked when I heard the news! My son told me initially but then I read about it online. I’m a big Rush fan and have a real passion for them. Actually FYINFO I was born 11/9/1952 and NP was born 12/9/1952. That blew me away when I discovered that! So we were the same age statistically when he left us 😔he died too young sadly. So I’m 70 now but still behave like a 30 year old. lol! My main influences that triggered me to want to learn the instrument were of course, well I was 11 when I started lessons and that was when the Beatles exploded on the scene! 1963 to be exact. They were my initial inspiration to take up guitar. After that Hendrix,Clapton,Iommi. When I discovered Black Sabbath I was off! Cream of course as well. Deep Purple, Grand Funk Railroad, Uriah Heep , etc, etc. now more guitar players through the decades are Jan Akkerman of Focus, Al DiMeola,Satchmo,Vai,Petrucci plus a host of others whom I just can’t think of ATM. That’ll do for now anyway. You get the picture of what I’m on about now as far as my likes and influences are HM. You know in all honesty I’ve never realised that my initials being HM boil down to Heavy Metal!! Lofl 😂🤣 that’s crazy!😜 I love ‘Testament’ Alex Skolnick is a demon of a player!👌🏼 Metallica, Opeth and most of the more obscure metal bands. Again I’m a little devoid of their names as there are so many!! I’m gonna leave it there for now HM as I think you’ve got the picture about me and my taste in guitarists and bands. And oh shit! I’m leaving out one of my all time favourites! Jeff Beck!! How on earth did I do that? Age i guess? Short term memory is stuffing out since about 3 years ago I’ve noticed. I don’t like that at all!!! Long term is very intact 👍 I’m so glad that I saw JB live with my eldest son in January 2010. Great concert and experience! He was truly amazing!! Yep! I’ll letcha know what other acts and guitar players I’ve had the greatest pleasure to have seen in my next msg? More a memo or transcript id say. I wasn’t expecting to make it this long HM! But there ya go! C U take care! Chat soon again. Best from Hugh ✌🏼

The word "unique" is misused all the time by people who do not understand that it means literally "ONE OF A KIND!" NOTHING can be "very" unique! Something is either unique or it is not, and Jeff Beck was without doubt a unique artist. Nobody played like him and nobody could copy his style. I have enjoyed his music since purchasing the "TRUTH" album in 1969, and he has remained on my short list of all time favorite guitar players for over 50 years. I will always treasure my audio collection of his work, I will never forget seeing him play live just five years ago, and I will never tire of listening to "BECK'S BOLERO," "MORNING DEW," or "SHAPES OF THINGS!"

Only saw Jeff once at the ARMs concert in the late 70s I think. Clapton, Page, Cocker, L. Russell, C. Watt, Bill Wyman, Paul Rogers,. But Jeff by far out shined them all with Jan Hammer and his group. This was after the Blow by Blow LP. I must add it was a grate show all around. Extremely tight, ( except Page a little sloppy as usual ) but that's his style, still great. But Jeff killed it. Incidentally, This is a lovely tribute and very well done version of " Cause we ended as lovers". You can be proud.
