I understand that Leonard Cohen said that he was born to write this song and Jeff was born to sing it.

"Hallelujah" was originally written and recorded by Leonard Cohen, released in 1984 on his album Various Positions. The song didn't achieve much success, but found greater popular acclaim by a new version recorded by John Cale in 1991. Cale's version inspired a recording from Jeff Buckley in 1994. The song is stunning and every version of it has it's uniqueness. However Jeff's version is a untouchable for me! 💗

As good as this version is, you should check out (on your own time) Jeff’s studio version of Hallelujah. You can find that on Jeff’s official channel, under the Grace (Legacy Edition) playlist. “His (Jeff Buckley) "Hallelujah" is contender for greatest recording ever.” - Tom Morello (Guitarist from Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave)

Takes me back to college, you’d hear it in all the dorms and, of course, off-campus at cafes, pubs, etc. I never knew it was a cover until an NME article. I could see it garnering Gen Z fans if utilized on a streaming show.

Great voice, classic song.❤ RIP Jeff Buckley🕊 Hey Jack here's a little info. for ya. Leonard Cohen wrote this masterpiece in 1984 and John Cale's 1991 version made this song popular & his version was featured in the movie Shrek. I would love to hear Halle Bailey sing this song.

One of the most unknown performers that could’ve had quite a career had he not died so young. But once people, here, Jeff Buckley, they never forget it.

He may have, but forgot it was in there. I totally forgot. And that one is by Rufus Wainwright so if his memory of it is already slight then a different vocal might have thrown him off completely 🤷🏽♀️

I love Rufus Wainright but his version is trash compared to this one. Way too rushed.
