Silicone caulk is absolutely correct for showers, harry. You are probably thinking of acrylic caulk. Silicone mastic is a modified silicone, and is used more for jobs requiring adhesion on top of sealing. Maybe grab a brain and sense of humour, lifes too short to have fun without them
