I first saw Jeff live in 1986; I had only just started playing electric shortly before then, and I literally couldn't even look at my guitar for the next couple of weeks, that's how utterly and completely blown away I was! Mind you, I did eventually start practicing and playing again, only with new and higher goals. I figured if that's how good you needed to be, that's what I should aim for, and it paid off; I spent most of the next two decades as a working front man myself, and man, what a ride that was! A few months after I first saw Jeff Healey live, I heard some idiot in a college pub say, "He's not really that good, people just feel sorry for him 'cause he's blind." I asked him if he played guitar, and he said no, so I said, "Then you have no idea what it takes to play at any level, least of all the one he's playing at. Go see him live, then try telling me it's 'just 'cause people feel sorry for him'."🤣 He did, and changed his tune completely!😁

Jeff Healey was awesome. I saw him in ROADHOUSE (1989) with Patrick Swayze as Dalton the “cooler”. Came across this footage, and there’s Jeff not only playing his guitar on his lap, there he was, prancing all over the stage in complete confidence. Hard to believe he was blind. And there was Pat Rush playing his lap steel guitar like holding a guitar normally. When I found out that Jeff Healey had passed away in 2008, my response was “Aw, shit”. He still had a lot of music in him, and nowadays Heaven is rocking out and the angels are getting their boogie on.

Anyway and this is not a word of a lie but it was so overwhelming that I had to step outside to catch my breath. He was one of the greats!!!
