Re: the points made at about 17:30 about food absorption from the stomach, he's right. I'm a doctor and part of my practice is to assess gastric emptying. The test often takes 4 hours after eating a meal (usually scrambled eggs, sometimes oatmeal). For eggs, at 1 hour 37-90% is left in your stomach. 2 hours, 30-60%. 4 hours, 0-10%. So the point is that what is really fueling your workout is probably what you ate at least 4 hours before. I think preworkout meals are best for either when the workout may be long, or when you are so hungry that you won't be able to train (assuming you already ate that day). I don't know that fasted cardio has any benefit, aside from preventing you having to use the bathroom and interrupting your training session from a full stomach during training (especially during a run and when returning after a layoff). I try to avoid anything substantial in the couple of hours before a session unless I really need it. I prefer a liquid if it's close to training time because they absorb faster. Fasted cardio takes a lot more planning. Even when I used intermittent fasting for a while, I usually trained after I'd eaten something. I tend to train in the evenings except on weekends or days off from work when I have more flexibility.

Some of us are not choosing to abstain from meat for dietary reasons and don’t claim that all meat consumption kills people. Abstaining from high consumption of charred red meat for health reasons makes sense, but fish hasn’t been necessarily been proven unhealthy, the reason to abstain from that is for other reasons such as sustainability and ocean health. It’s quite possible to get omegas from other sources.
