Absolutely fantastic explanation, Jeff! This is probably one of the most useful little nuggets you kind of forget that you're doing once you get used to it, in general just the R-L-L has so many incredible applications just like you're demonstrating one of them here! Great lesson, glad you're teaching people this one! :)

I'm unreasonably happy to see someone else sharing videos using an indoor access storage unit as a studio. I had to do it for a year. Sheet metal walls n ceilings sure make for some sonic chaos. I can almost guess your age cuz nothin on yer ears. 😁

You make it seem so easy. Definately smooth and effortless. I've never even come close to that speed when this rudiment comes to life, and I've played for about 30 years. So I've never found any use of it. (Or other rudiments of this character for that matter) But it's cool to hear how it supposed to sound. 😊

I really dig this lesson. 6 stroke rolls almost always sound great. Going from the 6 to the 3 shouldn't be as difficult as I'm having. I can play either at decent tempos, but getting the combo over 115 has been a struggle

I used to have to practice in a storage facility, that's when I was good, RLL and LRR is a good primer. Six stroke roll, I'm still learning, I can make the six stroke sound with single RL strokes and a lot of effort, you make it look easy. Don't stop keep practicing, you can lose chops if you don't practice.
