it feels like you are more confident to ride in the curves on ktm what i could see. Keep doing what you do to be as good as you can be. I also noticed that I'm faster on a ktm 350cc which was fastest for me and I tested 250 350 450 so 350 won for me.

3 seconds a lap faster in a 10 lap race that’s 30 seconds farther ahead in the nationals if you finished 30 seconds ahead of where you finished so how much better would you have finished at your last national?

It’s a good thought but in a real race it doesn’t really equate to than much time just because of all the variables on each and every lap. Obviously being on a faster bike helps for sure. But if Jeff finished behind first place by 29 sec on the Honda that doesn’t mean he would have finished in 1st on the KTM. There is no telling the lines he has to take to overtake positions or how the riders in front of him will ride to keep him behind them. That KTM is a beast tho and it will only help being that much faster

As an amature at the age of 38 all my laps on my crf 250 -08 are rough and slow. Tried a few laps on my friends 2020 yzf 250 and laptimes immediately dropped. My forks on the Honda is way to stiff, all of the small bumps comes up in the arms and hands, I've also have a really hard time turning the bike in corners, can't get enough weight on the front wheel and whashes out, in higher speeds the bars begins to wobble if I lean forwards. Softening the forks doesn't seems to help much. I've been loving my Honda and it's outstanding quality for 10 years but now my tired arms begs for something smoother.

I got Arm pump watching you on the Honda. Definitly need to spend some time on the front of that Honda. The KTM had a longer pull than the Honda. I think With some serious time with the Honda in Garage and track You'd be getting better lap times than on the KTM because you appear more comfortable on the Honda. Give your Honda Some serious love and re-shoot this video.

Thoughts on the KTM vs Husky 450 thing? I hear the Husky is a little more chill than the KTM all around. Softer subframe feel, softer power band. I'm a 30 year old Vet-B rider, 6'2" 165lbs. I'm buying a new bike this year but torn between the KTM-Husky, or even Kawi 450. I HATED my 2017 honda. i know one thing for sure, i love the low end power of my 19 crf450 but i rode my buddies 19 450 ktm factory edition and that thing is so smooth when ur going through braking bumps, but doesnt have near the low end power of the honda going up hills and stuff. both great bikes but the honda will throw you around if you cant hold onto it. and the ktm is noticeably lighter when ur in the air but thats about the only time i noticed the weight difference.

Man, that's such a sick setup on that KTM. Can't wait to see you out there crushing the Nationals this year. Now, hopefully...they will allow fans to the tracks to watch. Yeah, if they still ran the races without spectators..that's fine...but, it just doesn't have the same charm. But, I have to ask a hypothetical. Suppose you were approached by a rep from Red Bull Factory KTM..and then a rep, from Rocky Mountain KTM..which team, would you preferably sign with? Also, on a side note...in your opinion, what's the fastest route on Red Bud..to completely sky out Loracco's Leap? Or scrub it? thereby keeping more power to the ground? Just curious. Keep on killin' it Jeff!
@nicholaslewis7148
@nicholaslewis7148 4 жыл бұрын
In order to determine which is faster you need to track all lap times. Then you assess the SD of the lap times in order to understand the variation. Then you need to determine what is the smallest statistically relevant amount of change by utilizing your SD and then also professional experience. That value is then utilized in a T-Test to determine the Magnitude Based Inference of how likely it is that there’s a statistically meaningful difference between the two sets of lap times. Further you’d end up utilizing the average lap times and not the fastest. Your fastest could be an anomaly and not the trend

Really nice to see this comparison, and thank you. From your video, it's quite clear you were riding the KTM comfortably like it's a 250 instead, while you were riding the Honda significantly slower (on several turn exits, your Honda was not even on the power band), seemingly also having quite a handful handling it (just from observing the lines you took). It is possible that this stock Honda is slower (afterall, 3 seconds a lap is a lot), however we don't really know how much time you've had on each of them beforehand (eg. do you normally ride a KTM? that you are more familiar with it's characteristics?), and also are both bike's setup dialed in to your particular riding style? Because it appears like you just "jumped onto a friend's Honda", and went for lap times. I am not pretending to be an expert at all, it's just that there are many factors/details us audience don't know about.

I love the idea of the video, however it's still hard to say which bike you were faster on (the honda still has hope!). I think its fair to criticize the comparison when different lanes were taken for the honda vs KTM, dealing with other riders (for example, at the end of the honda lap, the guy in the same rut as you leading up to the table top clearly slowed you down and contributed to a slower lap time), and such a small sample size for laps. However I will say that the handling appeared to be better on the KTM vs the honda, which I would hypothesize that it would make a noticeable difference when looking at a 30min+2 lap moto. I think it would be interesting to see if you were able to get on a private track and ride 5, 5 lap sessions for both the honda and ktm, alternating between bikes for each session, while taking the same lanes around the track to minimize variables. Probably thinking way to far into this lol but great vid nonetheless!

I would say honda 1:43 because some kawi guys disturbed your lap a little on it i think, but still ktm faster. Personnaly i dont mind on ktm or honda faster because i am a Yamaha lover, but don’t you think that the track make a difference ? With all the horse power on the honda, it would maybe benefit more on a sand track, so the honda would maybe be faster there. I heard that the honda is very good in the whoops too. What do you think?

Let’s be honest here. You’re a PRO motocross racer. You didn’t pay FULL retail for either bike from CPR. Lol You probably paid something but not FULL retail price. If you did, then you need a better marketing person. With all that being said. I am in your corner for the outdoor season. Good luck, stay healthy, and finish both motos strong every weekend 🤘🏼

Getting deals on bikes is insanely hard to do. Normally dealers only make a couple hundred bucks per bike because retail is so close to their cost from the manufacturer.

He said "retail" not MSRP. By those terms I would assume if msrp is $9900 but they're listing the bike for $9000. Then $9000 would be the retail. Since msrp is manufacturers suggested retail price.

nah man dealers can't really move on bike prices. been there done that sometimes you barely make 100$ on a dirtbike sale it's mainly hoping for repeat clients/referral at that point. it's shitty

There's haters in every group. I am very surprised that you're that much faster on the orange bike although it does look like you have a lot more confidence in how nimble and more predictable it is in especially in the rough stuff. BTW dude, I definitely think All the manufacturers know who you are, every moto podcast mentions you at least once per show now, Pulp; SML; Racer X... you're making it bro, a lot of people believe in everything you're doing.... as of now about 117k. That's insane when you think about it Edit: what is this song you use at the end of your videos?

No doubt honda suspension setup to your weight is mandatory. Other than that. Comes down to what your more productive on.

Hey man, love watching you ride and trying to improve my own skills by seeing how you attack corners and whatnot. I was wondering if you had any tips on how to reduce arm pump though, I struggle with it all the time and I can’t seem to find anything that helps. If you have any suggestions from what to do before or after races or just body position while riding it would be much appreciated.

That’s a pretty big problem for me too usually it’s because I’m gripping too hard on the bars and it helps when I focus on loosening up on my grip a bit, I find that the arm pump subsides a little I’m by no means a pro but maybe it could help 🤷🏼‍♂️
