I'm curious to see how you would do in the 450 with the race suspension and a couple more sessions on it. You look blatantly more comfortable on the 250, but that's a hard comparison against a bike with a completely different setup. After that I'd scrub the average lap times of both classes, compile data, make educated decision on which class to ride. Having fun on the bike is great, but so is scoring points. (Full disclosure, I've never scored points. If I'm hanging with mid pack local C riders, I'm cracking a beer on the way home 😂)

Dude I bet you would freaking fly on a 350!! I’d love you see your lap times on one. If you are faster on a 350 than you are on a 250, that would be a good option. Race the 350 in the 450 class. Starts would be harder but it’s pretty easy to get a 350 to the power numbers of a 450.

Jeff I would love to see this comparison with the suspension swapped, I want to see you race 250's but if you're getting a 1:39 on both bikes there could be a good enough reason to stay racing 450's. Alot of comments mention you being more 'flowy' on the 250 and held back alot on the 450 (not flat landing the jumps at 11:37 for eg), I believe this is due to the suspension not the difference between 250 vs 450.

Great test (as always) between the 2 bikes. It seems like you have way more fun on the 250 (especially on that kind of track) and so you enjoy riding it harder. But to be fair: at the moment you are more used to ride the 250 and the suspension was better on it (at that day).. I would love to see you on the 250 BUT as you mentioned, as a privateer you will maybe have a bigger disadvantage against some other riders because of engine power....🤷♂️....and that problem is too expensive to fix ! So I think you should try the 450vs.250 again with equal suspension and then..... you have another Video for us 😉 (and the the real winner).

The problem is that even if you are faster on the 250, the factory 250 bikes are so much better than a production bike. It's not just the suspension and handling, they make way more hp as well. The 450's are more focused on handling because even a stock 450 makes more hp than you really need.

If you start riding hard and actually trying to attain a race pace and set a goal of being as close to the top times as you can that’s going to get you a lot farther. I’m sure a lot of the laid back riding style is to not end up injured but if you really want to do moto being timid won’t get you there. I’m not talking down to him (I’m sure other supporters will say something stupid in reply to this) it’s just that facts are facts. 90% of being fast in moto is the rider. Granted bike builds will make a massive difference against factory riders in certain aspects but if you can’t ride with the same level of talent you won’t ever see yourself with them.

The difference is confidence. On the 450, you got on the throttle out of the corner later and also weren't attacking the jumps nearly as hard, to the point you landed slightly short on some of the tables. Could just be the differences in suspension but you seem far more confident with the 250 than the 450.

@alexgresham70943 жыл бұрын
@@addisonburn8508 yeah I fully agree. With a good suspension setup the confidence is definitely there. The 450 is definitely the faster bike, just depends on the rider at that point. The suspension is crucial to a riders success, more so than the engine.

Maybe the gopro doesn’t do justice, but the track look less ruff than the AMA outdoors. You should do the same test on very ruff track to really know. The light weight of the 250 can help, the the power of the 450 can help in hard conditions too

Retry the test with the suspension the same on both bikes, those faster 250 times may be a reflection of the suspension being set up more to your liking. Personal opinion. I expected you to be faster on the 250 solely for how much you had been riding it. 2, the revalved forks make a huge difference to me, so all thought it wasn't rough, it has that more comfortable feel. You definitely were not second-guessing any decision on the 250 where the 450 you were a little timider from your comfort on the 250 rn. As far as racing outdoors, the 250 will suit you better for attacking the bumps and awkward lines those races have. I do believe riding the 450 will improve your finesse and technique and translate to the 250, but that's just my observation. They all have their time and place. I'm sure you've considered all of this, but just thought I'd mention my opinion.
