My brother I was too…I finally do see the truth and it is not coming from jw wt. it’s an 11 billion dollar United States of America business that is very well funded and backed by the government. It serves a democratic purpose and will be almost impossible to abolish. They’re quickly adapting as you can see from this past year’s historical changes bc their members numbers are in decline and the internet is giving them a rude awakening exposing them as a cult a very rich cult at that. We can do our share by just sharing our own experiences. One not need to go far, just start with the origins of the book they use to base everything on…the Bible!

That’s one of the things that pisses me off most about JWs. They don’t just take you’re money, they take your time. You spend you’re life studying their “truth”, going to meetings, reading they’re magazines, being fed they’re lies, and so much more. All the while believing it will be worth it, but when you wake up from the lies, nonsense, and B.S, you realize how much time you wasted trying to be perfect. I spent 6 years of the most important and hard times of my childhood (ages 7-12) doing just that. I was majorly affected by it. I was socially awkard, had trouble trusting certain minorities of people, and so much more. It’s amazing to me how those small years have effected me now, when I know there’s people out there like you who have spent DECADES of your life doing that. I’m so glad you’re out of there now, and have a lovely day if you read this.

I was a Witness teenager when we started hearing about the persecution in Malawi beginning in the late 60s. I remember reading the articles about the rapes and beatings and killings, and one horrific detail I'll never forget about how bicycle spokes were driven through the legs of some Witnesses and afterward being forced to run. Scared the hell out of me, thinking "when's the persecution going to start happening here?" "Will I be able to stay faithful?" And here we are, over 50 years later, and the Witnesses are still waiting in vain for the end of the system. You can't fault someone for dying for a cause they think is just, but when you think about all those Witnesses who died believing in a false hope and who would have lived otherwise, it's really sad. I stayed in way too long, glad I'm out.

Religions are a business. They’re job is to exploit the poor the weak and feeble minded hence their against higher education. Educated, but not tend to analyze and think critically bc that’s what higher education is. All the red flags are there for us to see and listen to coming right from all the gb horses mouths and wt. It’s propaganda for its brainwashed followers unfortunately. To feel pity and give more money. It’s all about the dollar at the end of the day. Jw does nothing charitable not even for its own congregation buildings being paid by its members and that includes buying the preaching carts from them as well. Then it’s laughable that the carts are reserved and you have to be trained and certified in their use. I speak from the heart as a dooped follower for over 50 years. My sister and mother life long followers too. My sister has called me spiritually weak for questioning their ill faded doctrines. In the past year I have alerted her to lots of changes and why as word gets out of these peoples sick and dangerous games with people’s lives. They want to run the members lives and then walk away when there’s devastating consequences to their enforcement of what they call Bible doctrines on innocent people trying to just look for a better life but are only brainwashed into another form of enslavement.

idk for me the tragic part isnt them suffering for their beliefs (they are entitled to them even if its a cult) but that the Watch Tower Society specifically told Malawian witnesses not to join the Congress Party (which was required of everyone by the dictator Banda) or carry party ID cards despite the fact that they could have just bought fake party cards that were commonly available and afaik JWs are allowed to lie to worldly governments and engage in theocractic warfare against them. So their deaths were completely avoidable and tragically pointless even within the framework of JW. There was a guy whose name I forget who was a high ranking member of the governing body of JW who dissociated and wrote a book about the entire thing.

1:42 Not only as a person just looking at this objectively, as a black person, this is IMMEDIATELY offensive. Once again portraying an entire continent as though everyone in Africa lives like this. These people couldn’t even afford pictures for the walls? Plus, the clothes. Why is the “brother” in plain looking western clothing and his brother is not? They had a cart with an old ass radio. It felt like this came from the viewpoint of a bunch of white men and how they see THE ENTIRE continent of Africa and how black people live. The entire continent. And the man’s wife with that raggedy ass bun in the back of her braids? They didn’t even have real lights shining bright in the house. All of it, all of it is cringey. 🤢🤮 And did he have a cell phone but an archaic radio? I can’t. I just can’t.

As a Congolese, please don't be offended on that part. Not having pictures on the wall, I don't see the problem with it, first. I mean they are selling stuff, its not their house, and if you ever went in the congolese market where they sell handcraft stuff... well this is a realistic depiction. And in Congo, for exemple, some people dress with western clothes, some don't. It truly be like that. You being offended is more offensive, actually 😅 (I use Congo as an exemple, because the music is in Lingala. A congolese language.) Also, the story is after what happens in Malawi, what did you expect, a full on villa and people in their private swimming poll ? 😅 Are even JW allowed to live like that ? Second, they are in a village in Africa, it doesn't mean, nor is implied that the whole Africa is like that. But it could easily be happening in Senegal, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Kenya etc... and I mean, there's nothing to be ashamed of... Beside the JW part. But I see houses with normal kitchen, clean environment. And to even be more realistic, you won't really find JW Africans in rich places lemme tell you that 😂😂 I mean, even in the western world, there's a difference between city people and village people like... 3. Picture on the wall ? Not only not everybody puts picture on the wall, and also they are JW. Your expectations are too high from them. (and really, pictures on the wall is not systemic everywhere, I never had that in my house) 4. The radio is not that weird, again it doesn't mean they don't have phone, there's a literal QR code on the card given by the rich dude in red. And I've seen kid, in Congo for example, if not creating radio from scratch (yup, from scratch), have an old radio. It's not that far off current reality. 5. I'd even say the scene is too clean. War refugee and no sight of dust on your clothes ? Perfectly clean ? All the clothes are cleaned and ironed ? In what world ? I think your offense is in the wrong place. And they all speak with an American accent as well. These are the weird things, not the things you were offended by. Taking people lifestyle as an offense just because you happen to be black, is wild.

The fact that they say you don't have to understand, you just need to believe/listen and obey is just disgusting and dangerous. Then the person mentioned the two witnesses because if you report such a case to elders they will ask you if you have a witness. Which of course, almost never happens During the Australian royal commission trial a governing body member (Jackson) said that they wouldn't change this policy because it was biblical (for context the trial was about 1000 abusers not reported to authorities, even though the organization was aware of it they kept the thing secret)

I don’t think this was even shot in Africa for a few reasons 1.the children have American accents like they weren’t able to make a remotely convincing accent 2. They call football soccer which is only called that in South Africa in the African continent 3. The vehicle number plates are from Botswana where they call soccer football and they aren’t even fitted correctly (the back number plates should be yellow) and they don’t seem to have the spaces between numbers and letters like they have in the film 4.it doesn’t even look like Africa which although Africa is a big continent I think if they sent a film crew to Africa they would want to capture more stereotypical settings. it looks more like rural Georgia 5. The sets are small and look fairly low budget

Well every line of dialogue is clearly ADR. It’s extremely noticeable. Also it could have been shot in Africa but with American actors hint the accents. The soccer thing could have been because it was American cast and writers. Vehicle numbers American crew who don’t understand the difference. So that could be explain most of those issue. And that doesn’t look like rural Georgia. Have you ever been to Georgia? It looks more like Upstate New York than rural Georgia.

I think a lot of the issue is the Poverty Porn the west is used to. Nobody in the US gets to actually see the best parts of Africa, like the rich culture, the incredible natural resources, or even just admire the beautiful clothing worn, because nobody actually shows that in media. The other issue is that generosity is a core belief in a lot of organized religions, which isn’t always a bad thing, but they just don’t understand that not all African countries need help. It’s just a huge lack of education. I grew up with people who thought not just that all of Africa was poor, but that it was a country. A lot of people grew up with those types of people or around them.

This is SO SICK! Sadly, the level of cognitive dissonance among Jehovah's Witnesses is tragic. They cannot see that the constant level of voolence is to keep them in a state of fear; a "fight or flight" mode. And all of that is to bind them inseparably to the organization, believing it is the only way to stay under Jehovah's protection. Sadly, they are awaiting an absolution that is never going to come. Cognitive Dissonance will not let them see that if their god Jehovah don't come through for the abundance of CSA cases where these little ones are being molested, why would he come through for them?

Lived in Africa for a while. Apart from the woman at the beginning, these Africans all speak with American accents and do a lot of running and hugging like Americans do. Their clothing looks like it just came out of a clothing store 😳 At the scene in the field when the clean clothed bad guys showed up. There are trees and undergrowth on the one side and an open field on the other. They chose the open field (maybe a movie decision 🤔) and exposed themselves. Even though the one guy said the end was very, very close, final days, etc., that never happened and still hasn't 😂😂

I just want to point out that the storyline of this movie is almost exactly like an older JW movie, Walk By Faith, Not By Sight. People fleeing because of political unrest to a different country where they have to live like refugees, on other peoples' charity. One couple are 'weak in faith' longing to return home, but when they do go back, they get killed. Subtle, Watchtower.. subtle.

I love how it would have been perfectly reasonable to assume the kids would head for the refugee camp since that was where they had all agreed to go but the movie makes a point to not have anyone say that. The solution can't be about knowing what the kids would logically do, that's the reasoning their uncle uses and he's wrong about everything because he doesn't believe the right religion. No, they have to say that the kids went to the camp because jehovah brought them there. No matter how much it just makes perfect sense without invoking jehovah, they have to say it was always all jehovah.

They just want to be kids again and have an authority to obey so they don't have to make choices and take responsibilities. Life sometimes when it hits very hard make us regress. I'm like that sometimes, and I guess what prevented me to ever join a cult, despite my hunger for family and friendship, is that I never respected any god and can't. I tried to access community, also find a purpose, but could never take it seriously. edit : It probably didn't help that everytime someone tried to talk to me about their religion, they talked to me about examples of people who joined later in life after a trauma experience. It is so transparent that they were just looking to be comforted, and it was used as proof of faith and god and blablabla.

I especially cringed 3 times during the ending: - When that political unbeliever goes to the burned off home and finds this JW book that is in wonderful condition, like 95%. - When the dad tells his son to "help those in need" even though THEY are in need right now and I can imagine that "helping those in need" in JW's terms means helping for the sake for converting people. Reminds me of the nun in that South Park episode who hands out cross necklaces or bibles out to the starving Ethiopian people but no actual food, water or healthcare. - When that refugee lady drops money into a JW donation box (because it is infuriating to think about what the rich Governing Body would do with this money). If I wanted to see a story where a Christian religion actually has a helping, positive effect on the crisis-ridden people of an African country, I'd watch the musical "The Book of Mormon" again, thank you very much (definitely recommended!!).
