As an elder for 14 years, I found that caring for my family, working my job, taking care of my household obligations, and my own spirituality was time consuming enough. I found the need to be balanced about how much time I donate to the congregation and the organization in terms of construction projects, assembly parts, and other circuit work. So I resigned to better care for my family's and my spirituality. And I'm glad I did, because the Watchtower Society is always asking the members to DO MORE!,...DO MORE! ...PIONEER!, REACH OUT! SERVE WHERE THE NEED IS GREATER!..ETC. ETC. These exhortations come from a body of men who have only known Bethel life or circuit and district work all of their lives. Where they are living off of the donations from the working class masses of publishers in the congregations. These knuckle heads have never held a full-time job, never went to college or specialty trade schools, never raised a family and worked full-time amidst people who don't share their beliefs; and have never experienced the stress of living and working in this world!

Yes, religion is a big business for many people.... Our obligation as Cristians is: Respect and fallow bible principles, and warn the family members and friends about the end times.... Preaching through internet, through phone call for a friend,in general.... I do spread the word of GOD. But I don't have the moral obligation to report my work in a piece of paper monthly. Crist can see from above who are paying attention to the good news, and the ones who don't care about it. Crist sent the disciples to preach and they come back with a report to Crist Right?? What tipe of report?? They reported their experience by mouth 👄...happy to share the information with someone, but Crist never demanding them to write a report in paper, much less monthly.....I guess a report holy service in paper monthly serves as a business for somebody....

Good content, I was an elder for many years, till 1995 Had major Convention parts, as I was a great upcoming pioneer /elder with a family Sucked me in big time! A subject worth investigating is how the JW leadership used us to recruit members to donate millions to build quick build Kingdom Halls , then they collected 6 pct mortgage Interest on these congregations all over the world. All on free money they received! And free Labour Recently about 1/3 of those are now closed but still all properties but they still own the real estate

I had served as an elder for over 3 decades. Resigned and never looked back. Those guilt feelings mentioned are non existent in my case . The waking up process was slow but progressive. I even remember being in school at Bethel and silently stating what the hell am I doing here. Yet the imagined need of my family took priority. The only regret I have really is believing in men calling and appointing themselves as the governing body. Although my research also opened my eyes regarding the fabrication of Bible I still hold the principles and morals of its “man’s collective wisdom” over the millenniums in high regard.

A friend of mine was appointed as an elder by the C.O. At his first elder's meeting the elders told him they didn't like him - didn't recognise his appointment and they did not want to work with him... he came to me distraught. *Sadly, after serving with that hateful group of men for a couple of years, he became just like them..*😢😢

If I had been one of those elders who was axed, or dismissed, from serving the Watchtower Society, I would not want to go back to that cult. After hearing and reading a lot of bad press about the Watchtower Society, it would, in my opinion, be a serious mistake to return to being one of their elders again. Vicki & Benji-Celtic Tech - Well if they are so desperate - they should prove it by being nice to the thousands who have left, sort out their doctrinal questions and take them back as lost sheep, instead of shunning them so aggressively. Then those Elders & Servants might return with a smile on their face. In 1988, I cut down my hours while a Ministerial Servant so I would get removed - knowing the Society was a fake organization. They played into my hands exactly as I calculated. I performed as the spiritually weak witness who was not attending meetings and supporting the Elders in taking the field service group. However they never answered my questions on the 607 Chronology when they asked me what the problem was; but preferred to remove me for questioning their divine authority in 1919. In disfellowshipping me for asking questions, they lost very hard to get technical expertise, as well as a potential supporter of their divine cause. When they do answer such pointed questions, and apologize for their human over-reaction towards me, I will return like a rat up a drain pipe to brown-nose them and resume my former responsibilities as an unpaid Ministerial Servant and finally an Elder. ( I also have trade skills stemming back 45 years in Electronics, which makes me worth twice as much to Jehovah's Organization. ) But as we all know, that will never happen - not in this world, or that to come.

I served as an SP during 1975-1079 then to Gilead (haha), then served in Bethel for the next 10 years as well as the capacity of a substitute CO. I resigned in 1980 but still lingered as an RP with the assignment of the substitute CO for another 10 years. Serving also as the Convention Overseer for more than 10 years. Now I quit. That's it. Enough!

The pressure is constant to reach out for more work: elders, ministerial servants etc. It does not matter about your current situation. More ministry, more assignments, more, more and more is pressured for men. There are always power figures. Nepotism reigns supreme. Many men do not have the time, education or knowledge to be in that position.

Can women become elders? My ex wife was such a strong woman. She was the head of our household. And now that shes a JW again & no longer gay. I wonder if she misses being in charge. The Org. is a disaster from the top down. One CO. comes in to the cong. and thinks you are great and makes you an Elder, next CO. comes a few years later and is jealous of you and deletes you . Was on one body of Elders and all were adulterers, no joke the PO. even was having an affair with other elders wife in the same Cong. and had a kid. 2 others were doing it at work, another was doing it early in marriage, another had a child is wife did not know about, another had young daughter that got pregnant , on and on it goes. When I stepped down from being a Ministerial Servant at age 19, the Elders were hoping it would be temporary. When I stepped down, I was told that the Elders had recommended me to be appointed as an Elder. That was in 1999. It seems clear that the organization has always been desperate to hold on to Elders and Ministerial Servants, especially young ones.

Once JW ppl read Genesis 1 that claims that plants that require *warmth* and photosynthetic causing full spectrum sunlight, were somehow, created on day 3 before the Sun and Moon were created on day 4, it confuses them " In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth ," which, then includes the billions of stars and planets discovered by the James Webb and Hubbell Telescopes including our own Sun and Moon Yet Genesis 1:16 says " And God made two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser one to rule the night, and, [ as an afterthought ] he made the stars also " This is why most Christians worldwide accept evolution and the science of astronomy and evolution. Sorry JWs, Joshua 10:12:-13 didn't occur.

So I find it interesting that the witnesses need to have such a demeaning video to get anyone to serve as an elder!!! It would be mentally exhausting to be an elder a glorified yet terrible therapist!
