I remember when my childhood best friend sent her disassociation letter, she was 14. We knew when it was gonna be announced, so my mother took us to her home congregation explaining that we need to give her family support, it was like going to a memorial for her. It was so sad, she ended up being kicked out of her home instructed by the elders at 14 out on the streets. I was surprised her parents weren't reported to CPS.

Which is so sad it was so mentally scarring for her. But she's living her life as it was meant to. I was mortified and worried about her when I heard she was kicked out of her home and angry at the elder for kicking her out but karma got him back by since he got so obsessed with her including me having spied on by him neglected his own daughter, she ended up pregnant and had to step down, 😅🤣😅 his obsession led to his fall.

I just saw an interview with a young woman from 2 years ago on "NOT THE GOOD GIRL" here on youtube. She was DFed when she was 15 and she's still not allowed to have contact with her family after being kicked out as soon as she had a job. I was baptized in '97 when i was 14 or 15. When i was 17, i was "counseled" on my growing a beard for the winter as a landscaper. I asked where in the Bible it said no beards. The elders couldn't answer that. So i just stopped going. Jehovah's Witnesses' disfellowshipping policies have been widely criticized in terms of human rights, particularly regarding freedom of thought, freedom of religion, and the right to family life. Here are some key points of critique: 1. **Freedom of Thought and Religion**: - **Coercion and Control**: Disfellowshipping exerts significant pressure on members to conform strictly to the organization's doctrines. Those who dissent or question teachings face severe consequences, limiting their freedom of thought and belief. - **Lack of Due Process**: The disfellowshipping process often lacks transparency and does not provide a fair or open avenue for defense, undermining the principle of justice and fair treatment. 2. **Right to Family Life**: - **Social Isolation**: Disfellowshipped individuals are shunned not only by friends but also by close family members who remain in the organization. This enforced isolation can lead to severe emotional distress and social alienation. - **Family Separation**: The policy can result in the breakdown of family relationships, as members are instructed to avoid all contact with disfellowshipped relatives, including children and parents. This contravenes the right to maintain family connections and can have profound psychological impacts. 3. **Mental Health and Well-being**: - **Psychological Harm**: The intense shunning and social ostracism can lead to depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. The lack of support and community can exacerbate feelings of worthlessness and loneliness. - **Reputational Damage**: Being disfellowshipped can tarnish an individual's reputation within and outside the religious community, leading to long-term social and professional ramifications. 4. **Freedom of Association**: - **Restriction on Social Interaction**: Disfellowshipping policies infringe on individuals' freedom to associate with whom they choose. Members are compelled to cut ties with disfellowshipped individuals, regardless of personal or familial bonds. Overall, these policies can be seen as infringing upon fundamental human rights, including the right to freedom of religion and belief, the right to family life, and the right to mental health and well-being. Critics argue that such practices are coercive, punitive, and detrimental to individuals' basic human dignity and rights.

Wait, what? A committee of elders will meet with the kid and his parents when they find out something bad happened. If the kid has a good attitude they drop it. But if the kid doesn't? A committee of elders with meet with the kid and his parents. That paragraph seemed a little redundant and was saying the same thing while being redundant.

As a child that was disfellowship, the elders keep insisting that I didn’t have a repentant attitude and I ultimately had to move another congregation and got reinstated. Then I turned 18 and I had gone so long without socializing with them and stopped attending the meetings. So sad because I feel like my teens would have been different with the support of the other teenagers in the congregation that were struggling with similar issues. All the teens grew up and left the religion.

Seriously, they didn't care about My attitude, seemed more like a power trip by the elders to reject Me again, & again. They just don't care. They pick, & choose at their own discretion, who they reinstatement from disfellshipping. It's horrible. They are wretched!

Agnostic here..didn't Jesus forgive another sinner while they both were on the cross. So if Jesus can STILL forgive, then so can the elders.....OMG so glad I walked away from Christianity....my church is looking at God's creations like the beach lakes ,etc. Not hiding in a building.
@PurpleFlames874 ай бұрын
This is exactly why I don’t understand the concept of Hell or any form of eternal punishment. If Jesus will forgive absolutely everybody, then do people think there’s certain types of sin that can never be forgiven? Actions have consequences of course when it comes to people doing illegal things or something like that, but in God’s eyes everyone will be forgiven and will always have the chance to be loved by him no matter what they’d done. At least that is how I view it.

Following these men will destroy one's faith. Looking at Creation builds faith. ( Romans 1:20 ). God's eternal power and divine nature are evident through what He has made. These qualities are understandable through observing creation, not by following wolves in sheep's clothing.

This is giving AA vibes. You can be completely sober and come to a meeting after a while. They'll act all welcoming but still be suspicious and talk shite amongst themselves. Gross.

Find a better home group. AA helps lots of people. You sound like you still haven't shifted the JWs way of feeling that you have been victimised stop it not a endearing trait .
@christinesotelo76554 ай бұрын
AA is great but you can’t tell this commenter to “stop it”. JW or not, AA CAN be triggering. I’ve been to groups where a newcomer can’t get a word in edgewise because by the time the rules are read, the prayer, whatever, there’s little time and the ones who always talk and blubber, well...talk and blubber. It has or has nothing to do with JW trauma just as any AA story. There’s trauma involved or there isn’t. Not right of you to judge a person making a comparison. Every group has its ups and downs. The exJW needs to feel they fit in. It’s hard to do if everyone is just thinking “self”. Nothing but blessing for AA, but it’s not your new god I hope.
@thetruthk51384 ай бұрын
@@christinesotelo7655 What are you talking about the newcomers are the most important people in the room. Most groups if large in numbers will have brief time spans so everyone can share. And if not the group isn't looking after the newcomers. Some AA groups have time allocated to newcomers and includes shy members. Bring it up in a Group Conscience if it still isn't being addressed find another home group it's not really that complicated. Finally AA isn't my new religion if it was I would not go after all its a spiritual program. AA works if you work it and the is a chapter entitled " How it works". Certainly not my new God god or great out doors. I have been attending weekly for 12 years and sober 12 years ODAAT

Sometimes I wonder what would happen if I went to a meeting with my mom. She's 80, I got df'd 25 years ago, but she's never shunned me. We've always had a great relationship. How would she introduce me? Would I say I used to be a JW in good standing? Would there be anyone there who knows my story or remembers me? Probably not. Probably nobody would really care. Maybe an elder or two might know about me and be on the lookout since I was well known as an apostate. All that said, it'll never happen. I don't even think I'd do it if I was offered $1000...... do I hear $2000?

How can they have “love among themselves” now that they have been given the freedom to go around judging each other so as to “mark” them? How does one know whom another has marked, and for what reason? Think of all the gossip, divisions, rumors, misunderstandings, distrust, etc. this will cause among them! “I’m marking sister Shut-in, because she barely goes out in service, and she doesn’t take very good care of her cats.” They’re probably gonna have to walk this one back a little, or it will rip them apart.

I HATE that they use-DARE to use-the word, “Wicked”. They do not know the meaning of the word, and to label people “wicked”, “Apostate”, and all their other little snipes out of ignorance, makes them responsible and liable for the damages those labels can cause to a minor or an adult. They truly are misled, uneducated people. Very harmful, the WT Org.

Jw parents, ask your children what they want, dont force them to follow what you believe. You have a chance for a "normal(ish)" relation with your children, if you respect their choices. My mom is Jw, im a deciple of the sun (the one true god, jk its just atheism). She respected my voiced freedom of religion (begrudgingly) when i was 14, now im 30, and we live in the same house again. Took a few years to get along, but faith is a non-topic now. It helped a lot just to leave the room when the zeal goes off. We believe in fundamentally different things, but she was always my mother. Love you Mom❤
