I am so thrilled to have stumbled upon your video!!!!! I am an older handicapped American woman living in the country in the Northwest of France. My son brought home a Cane Corso puppy 13 months ago. I had recently lost my last dog to cancer and didn't want another dog. I knew nothing about this race. We have been through hell and back together all 3 of us. Made a lot of mistakes. I realize that I still have a long road ahead of us but the biting has stopped. Unfortunately the dog (Payback, 16 months old and 66kgs) doesn't get enough exercise but you can bet your booty that I walk him everyday (slow cos' I got 2 canes to walk with) but he doesn't pull me down ; so friggin' intelligent Payback is. My son, 34 yrs old works all the time. And obviously he is the Alpha. Just taking it day by day and your video gives me the hope that with patience and firmness and consistency Payback will realize that this old broad loves him to death. I've subscribed. Thanks again!!!

Today I can do whatever I want with his food while he eats and not only me, all members in the house including my little daughter. Besides that, he learned a lot more than that. Great behavior with all children, dogs, cats. And very obedient to many commands so far.

I can put my hand in my dogs bowl and he knows he has to back off. Because once he does he knows he will be rewarded with his food. I put food on the ground and he's not allowed to eat it unless I say so. I grab a small piece of food and put it near his mouth. He understands he can't grab it unless I give the command. Because I won't let him grab it unless I say so. He can't even look at the food. He has to maintain eye contact on me. If he doesn't I correct him with a sharp ah ah. You see its all about energy. Once he's calm and has given me attention he can get what he wants. You can teach him this in a matter of few days. It's all about dedication and how much time you're willing to put in it.

How much time have you put? So far my pitbull is high energy and wreckless until he turned 1.5 years and I started to really work him up hills and runs and pulling me with a bike and harness sometimes... always had the knowledge that I was in control but he was always stubborn or testing me to see of i will allow him to not listen and wonder about. He is 3 barely and i say 1 month ago he listened to most commands except when a dog was present or a cat and his drive shot up the sky! On a leash he would listen to directions, off leash he would ignore me. 1 month of letting him free and repetitive commands and if he still wouldn't listen to me I'd go hide from him until he would see im gone and then he would be roaming the lonely streets at night looking for me... maybe not the best way but I managed to teach him trust and more of who is in charge when roaming on or off leash. He will stay in place when i say stay now and won't cross the street unless i allow him or if there are cars i tell him stay and he listens. He constantly keeps looking at me in case I turn directions or what not. 8 out of 10 times he will listen so it is not perfect. I still think off leash he will not listen if he sees any animal though. On leash however, I can snap him out of the drive before he even gets focused on it! I want a bit more obedience to where he can be off leash if I desired to and not let his drive get the best of him also gets defensive with his food around other dogs but not humans. Has come a long way in a month but not yet there, just wondering how can I speed up the process to weeks or days?

@@ericinfante1885 When you call him when he is off leash and he comes, give him a cookie and pet him so he sees it like a good thing, that way he will come to you with joy...not fear that hes going on leash. When he doesn't come and ignores you the rest of the day you ignore him and don't give him treats, food etc. After a while he will always decide for your attencion, love.. food than to be without it. If you want an obedient dog, and with that kind of breed you can't affort otherwise, there must be some kind of punishment for not listening. Hiding from him is not it.
@ericinfante1885
@ericinfante1885 4 жыл бұрын
@@dariocszagreb3964 I don't hide all the time actually very little just to get him to panic at the fact that maybe something bad happened to his master during the time he left him. But you're right about ignoring, I usually just keep walking and don't even bother looking, waiting for, or calling him anymore and he will come sprinting and then starts seeking for my eye contact and attention. I don't reward with food just verbal and excited voice.
@dariocszagreb3964
@dariocszagreb3964 4 жыл бұрын
@@ericinfante1885 I'm not talking about ignoring in further walk, when he doesn't come you should get him on leash somehow eventually and go home. That's when the ignoring starts, maybe no dinner, no playing with him. He must know he did a bad thing and taking away most of the things he loves he gets it. And next time when he sees a dog he will think twice before ignoring you cause he knowes he won't eat, you won't pet him or play with him and so on. Food is good reward and people often take it for granted. Food has to be deserved by obeing and forfilling your roll in the pack. Thats in their nature.

Yeah and that's good and all but I'm wondering why he needs to ask for money just cause he's put some time in with his dog. Nowadays people have no shame, they ask anyone for money just cause they have a channel. Makes no sense at all to me, what makes even less sense is the people who give the money. If people want to donate they should donate to those animals/situations where people can really use the money, like in those really poor Countries where good Samaritans are feeding whole colonies of animals. But a guy training his dog.... Cmon...

This is what I did with my Cane Corso from a very young age. I would hold the bowl, make her sit, and wait until I gave her permission to eat. She is now 1.5 years old and I am going to get a male. She will help me keep him in line. LOL...But yes, your advice is spot on. I did the same thing and it works. These dogs don't mind being led, but first they must be taught who the leader is, and who is not the leader.

@@passion4musiclover Yeah cause it's become the norm to people.. SMH... What money is needed to train your dog, it's something every dog owner does (or should be) doing anyway. I'm just amazed at how many people are begging strangers for money. When social media first started you'd get the odd story of someone who died tragically or something along those lines, and the family needed money for funeral expenses, and even that I didn't agree with. But now every Tom Dick and Harry are asking everyone. In fact that's why many even start a channel in the first place. I'm noticing it more and more and it's disgusting. Scripture tells us if you don't work you don't eat, and you certainly don't beg for money.

In this case if you pet him, he sees that you don't want his food. So i don't think it's wrong. The most Important thing is to show the dog that you gave him the food and that he worked for it. I train my dog before he eats 10 min, I make him stay and look at me before I put the bowl in the ground. I do the same with toys and bones, he has to earn it. I can take a bone of his mouth and he just sits back and looks at me. Or lays down. But maybe it's just the personality of my dog

Beautiful dog. IDK why but you just appeared in my feed and I'm happy it did. You've done such great work with your corso, he's amazing. I need to work more with my dogs. My current rott (he's number 6) has the worst food aggression. It's been a huge struggle. The methods I used with my previous rotts don't work with him.

Start with a random dog...go help out people that’s got a new dog or something like that..do the real thing first somehow..your confidence level will be high when you have experienced it in real time.

obviously a smart dog. I don't have much experience with food-aggression, so I can't really comment. I have seen harmless dogs 'growl' if you try to take their bone, but I suspect there is a difference between such 'playful' growls and what your dog's problem/issue was.
