Thank you for inducing me to use what I have. Yes, even the ancient eye shadows. Every time I watch one of your excellent videos, my work space doubles -- which only proves my tiny retirement apartment consists of two studios, kitchen, and bath. Keep up the professional, inspiring, and common sense videos. We thank you tremendously.

Lindsay, u seriously give me so much inspiration, ideas, and techniques and have been such a help for someone like me who is a self taught "artist" so to speak. i love your energy, your positivity, your huge knowledge of so many mediums. whenever i want to try a new medium, i always go to u first for techniques etc bc ur knowledge is so expanse and it doesn't matter what medium u are using, u end up creating such beautiful works of art. i also appreciate your "frugal" ideas, always suggesting to us followers what we can try to use instead, if we don't have a certain medium, and that u often will use maybe household items to recycle etc. i hope i made sense there lol. i just love your personality and i find that your tutorials are absolutely the best and most interesting to follow. thank u so much for all that u do.

I'm such a fan of jellyfish paintings/drawings etc. for some strange reason. Probably because I find them fascinating and bizarre but in paintings they can be quite an ethereal subject. Which brings me to say that this pastel piece you've made is just gorgeous! I'm going to get out my chalk pastels and give this one a go! Thanks for another wonderful tutorial!

Jellyfish are luminous and beautiful. This is an easy and fun project. The painting is colorful, but a bit muted; I like that. Thanks for the tutorial.

Lindsay I would love to see more tutorials on pastels. I have some pan pastels and the sticks but I've never seen the pencils before. I have more than I need and like you said I need to start using them instead of being afraid of them. I even already have the pastel paper. Thank you for the jellyfish it gives me a little more courage that I might be able to do this one. So thank you, thank you!!

I was curious about pan pastels, so I'm really glad you did this tutorial. I think the jellyfish are cute and I'll be trying them with my stick pastels. I'm looking forward to more stick pastel tutorials, myself, since I probably won't splurge on pan pastels, but like I said, I'm glad you did this one. Thank you, Lindsay!

Thanks for this instruction! I’m embarrassed to say my husband bought me ALL of the supplies - even the pastels, metallics, etc - & I didn’t want to mess it all up! Thanks for reaching out to folks like me who aren’t artists, but would soooo love learn! I also have several sets of pastel pencils: Derwent, Faber Castell PITT, CarbOthello, etc. Haven’t used those, either. Now that I’ve discovered these kinds of videos exist, I think I will get brave and give them a go! Lol! Thanks for the easy way you walk us through complex techniques! You’ve inspired me to get all those things out & at least TRY! (Your jellyfish are gorgeous, by the way!). Thanks again! -K

We love jellyfish and octopi! The "boring bits" as you say are actually what make your tutorials so appealing. I don't work in pastels but the subject matter has just sparked a desire to try my hand at creating a journal page using these lovely creatures as a focal piece. Thanks for the inspiration. :>)

I began to do embossing of card edges and pieces used in card making- and because I did not have a lot of chalk colors at the time I grabbed my large palette of ELF shadows and loved just swiping to get color. Then I discovered Pan Pastels and so bought a small stack of them - spendy but wonderful. And, I can still dip into the shadows for the wide range of colors it affords. I use a variety of makeup sponges which I cut to create the size and shapes I need, but I"m just starting to use these more and need tutorials. Thanks for the tutorial Lindsay.

I saw this done a few months ago by someone, I'm not sure where. But the artist was using the pan pastels to color a coloring book page. I found myself browsing in Michael's today, drooling over all of the things I want but can't have at the moment. I thought of the pan pastels and just wanted to eyeball them for selection and price but couldn't find them. Anyway, my friend I was with wanted a link to see these in action. I was excited to see you had uploaded a video. And now I want these more than ever! Thanks for doing this and I hope to see more of these videos.

I actually have a set of round stick pastels (chalk pastels) from Talens Rembrandt and a cheaper Version of Pentel oil pastels. I came back to redo this tutorial because the 64 set of Mungyo pastels I ordered from Amazon arrived (good reviews and cheap!), this was really fun to do. The 24 Prismacolor Nupastels I picked up previously with a 60% coupon didn't have enough color variety, they are nice tho. But I'm so lusting after those Pan Pastels! I have to try to restrain myself for as long as possible tho or wait for a good sale. I did want to mention I found the Stabilo CarbOthello 36 pastel pencils on Blitsy during a 50% off day, so under $40 and I love the pretty color palette they chose incase anyone was looking. Glad to see your a Blitsy affiliate, hard to stay away from that site!

Hi Lindsay, Just wanted to say I really like this platform of going back and forth between the piece you are working on and you explaining what your doing. I feel sometimes when I watch tutorials I get so focused on what your doing and how I might want to tweak it to fit my style or the materials I have that I miss some of what your saying. So when u switch back and forth like this it helps me to stay focused in the moment on what your saying as well as what your doing. Just my two cents worth, hahaha I have done this tutorial a couple times I'll try to remember to tag u in it on IG. Tana
