Islam : Chapter 9 Verse 5 Surah Al Tawabah. December 629 A.D or January 630 A.D Quraysh might have done wrong or might have taken wrong decisions that doesn't mean the Religion what they followed and the belief system of them were wrong, why did pbuh didn't allow them to follow their Religion ( gave Ultimatum after their defeat, either to convert, leave their ancestral place of Quraysh, Mecca or prepare for battle. Atleast pbuh might have preserved the Religion of Quraysh, so that we would had been able to see Religious plurality in Mecca till date. PS : Religion exists if the people are following it, Otherwise the Religion is dead. Quraysh's were converted and their Religion was dead, Hence how Islam is a Religion of peace?

@@jelumbard The sword is figuratively describing the command to kill polytheists unless they convert to islam. Even if we restrict the validity of this command onto a specific historical phase in Mohammads life this verse is inexcusable and to this day is a source of real islamic violence. There are multiple schools of islam, such as the muslim brotherhood of egypt, who do not engage in aplologetics and rationalizations about the violence within their religious texts but use them to engage in war and terror or in case of dominance the suppression of disbelievers, women and other people the quran puts down. Islam is in DIRE need of secularilization and enlightment. By just denying problems with the text and insisting on its absolute truth and completeness this wont ever happen. To the day this happens islam stays a totalitarian-like ideology with a lot of potential for violence.
