That is beautiful Jen. You have a God given talent. Please don't toss your scraps. Do what Jean does and sell them. I live in England and I would buy them and pay the shipping as well. It is always nice to have fabric from other places to build a wonderful collection of scraps. I don't throw anything away. Have you seen Danny Amazonas He has exhibited in all the quilt shows. He uses tiny pieces to amazing effect. I hope to make one like that one day. I love you and Jen together, you have a wonderful relationship.

I'm so glad to see you're back!! I recently bought the same JUKI DX 2000 QVP Pro- and like JENN, I'm learning to use it and it makes me feel like I'm a fgood sewer. It is amazing!! I learned about the JUKI from you, Jean, when you bought yours and unwrapped it. Then soon after that my old embroidery machine backscreen light went out and I learned it could not be repaired! My husband actually went with me to the Quilt Expo in WISCONSIN and when I saw how the JUKI worked and all the feet that come with it, we were sold! Thanks so much for all the educating you do. Love your channel!

I frequently use different colors of thread on the top and bottom when I quilt, and as long as you have good tension in your machine, it is definitely workable. I do a test, like you suggested, with the exact fabrics and batting before I sit down to begin every time, and after a bobbin change. You just never know for sure until you test it out. I've already walked away from my machine for the day and then sat down again to find that my tension is goofy. Such a fun video! Both of your quilts are so beautiful! I see a horse! And Jean, you made a rooster that's a horse! I totally cracked up when you said that! Have a great weekend, ladies! Thank you for the giggles!
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
Yes, SO important to get the tension correct! I always do a test also...about my ROOSTER.....and YES!!! IT WAS A ROOSTER, that Jen successfully managed to make into a horse:) LOL! LOL! :)
@busybeaver7935 жыл бұрын
Thank you ladies for putting a smile on my face! Jen I see a horse and the bead will put life into its eye! The circle quilt Jean would look nice bound with your backing fabric. Or something that is colourful. When Jen made the comment about the back of your quilt; Jean, I could not help but think that, you should quilt from the back not the front. An all over pattern would be nice even the stellar suggestion Jen made would be suitable.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын

I've got to say and I said it on my other comments, you two are excellent together. So fnny It's lovely you have such a relax banter together. . You should do lots and lots of shows together. Because I'm new and I'm catching up on all your videos, did you ever do the challenge? If you didn't I think you should do it sounds a lot of fun. One again another great video. Thank you very much really appreciate it.😀

You two are HILARIOUS!! As soon as Jen said "It's a Horse" the first thought that came to my mind was that episode of "My Favorite Martian" when Tim drew a picture of a horse and proudly says to Uncle Martin "Horsie" - could not stop laughing!! Just like I am now watching you two...…..I'm so amazed at how quickly Jen is sewing up her quilts and she's a beginner? I've been here in PA for six years and still consider myself a "Beginner" and it takes me at least a week to make a quilt top?! I have another question for you Jean? I was watching your "Machine Appliqued Circle KZbin" and was wondering about the quilt on your chair? Love it when you two get together!!
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Margie! We do have fun together, but yes, Jen has only been quilting for 13 months!!! Go figure! She is a natural!!! About the quilt....it is a funky applique from an old pattern. I used a fusible web, cut out the shapes and ironed them on and then tiny satin stitched around the shape. It was quite tedious but not hard at all!:)
@margieterry52785 жыл бұрын
When you say "old pattern" does that mean it's no longer available? Also, in your video you mentioned the "QuiltFest" in Lancaster - I had never heard about the show (I live in Lancaster but I've only been here in PA for six years and I've only known about the AQS show in March) so I looked it up and it's at a hotel I thought had been closed since I never saw any cars in the parking lot - I didn't know it was going through a renovation. Since you're not able to attend the AQS show in March you might want to consider the Quilt Odyssey Show in Hershey from July 25-28th - it's a really great show and last year Missouri Star Quilt Co. was there (I happened to find a great parking spot next to their van!).
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
The pattern for the 'hawaii applique' is in the Volume 4 of the Better Homes and Garden "Quilt Lovers Favorites' from American Patchwork & Quilting book. It may be out of print, but maybe a local library has it. I think about the AQS show ~ it IS the bigger of the two. Maybe we can TRY to get to it! :) But we will most surely get to the Quilt Odyssey in July!:)

Jean I would use a variegated thread on your quilt. I was wondering when we would see Jen again she has been “Mia”. You did a great job teaching her she is amazing.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
Good idea! Love my variegated thread!! Yes, Jen is so very busy....family, 3 kids, work, volunteer ministry work, home, and now Quilting!:) Thank you very much:) She is my Star Pupil!:)

You guys crack me up! I agree lighter thread on back ground. I made a mistake and went too dark. Big mistake. Love to see what you all do. Just went to Florida to see daughter and went to AQS quilt show. Missouri Star was there. Thought of you all and brought a smile on my face.

Do the stitch where its a mildly curvy line, then a star, then the curvy line with a little loop, then a star. Etc. This would look cool on both sides!

I think Jen was right a white binding would go great with your white satin stitch. I love the idea of the challenge but with living in the UK it might be difficult (or expensive) to get your fabric choices, so could we just do a similar looking fabric?
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
But the white might get a bit grubby?!?!? Maybe?!?!? I don't know. ALthough I DID think it would add a bit more ZING to the quilt....like this quilt NEEDS more ZING!!! LOL! I will be doing the challenge, and have to work out something for other who live outside of the USA

Beautiful job on the horse quilt! I also love the idea of the challenge!! Do it do it! I seen a version of that design board and they used a empty picture frame to hold it together and to pretty it up 😊
