My grandfather came over from Czechoslovakia as a boy. He used to make this for Sunday dinner quite often. He didn't put in either the tomatoes or the peppers. So, I'll skip them when I make this. Thank you for bringing back some great memories of time spent with my grandfather.

Chicken Paprikas (Csirkepaprikas). Just made this for dinner yesterday. My Hungarian mothers recipe does not use red pepper. Tomato is peeled and sliced very thin so it disintegrates during cooking. Garlic is added to a roux to thicken when done. Serve with a dollop of sour cream. Every family has a slight variation on this dish, but anyway you make it, it’s delicious

If I only have 8 pounds of chicken, can I increase the red peppers and onions to 4 for the batch and still maintain safety? I love your meal starter canning recipes. All the ones I have canned have been wonderful!

Pap-ree-kahsh. Love this food Jeni! I can't believe you know how to make this. My late husband was from Serbia and I loved the food throughout that region. You need to can ajvar and pickled peppers! Another amazing recipe. Thank you for sharing your written recipe. My mother used to make paprika chicken with chicken thighs in an electric fry pan and it was so delicious served over rice.

I've seen recipes where people add red peppers, jalapenos and/or pimentos. I've tried it with the tomatoes and pimentos and we loved it.

Hi Jeni, when I saw the title to your video, I was so excited. I ex mother in law used to make this dish. It’s so good. She would add sour cream to hers. (Not canned) plus she would serve with a noodle called Spetzel. Not sure if I’m spelling right. It’s like little dumplings. She was Hungarian. Thank you for the wonderful video.😁

I love Paprikash! Every time I make it, I have to laugh because my husband always tells me that he really liked it and then askes me what it was. I have no idea why he can't remember what its called but it is a favorite at my house. I tend to serve it over noodles, but I've served it over leftover rice, or mash potatoes as well.

It is technically spelled Paprikash. I have heard it pronounced only two ways, yours is a new one for me. But you are spelling it different too. 😊

I can get boneless pork loin and butt roasts cheaper than chicken where I live in Canada. This would make a great pork goulash starter given most of the ingredients are pretty much the same.

Lol. I've never heard anyone pronounce it like that! Cute! (I'm not being a smart butt either here) We use to have a great hungarian restuarant that served this and it was so good! Monday night special and you had to get there early or they sold out! They served it with dumplings in the broth! Delish! I never thought of making it myself and haven't thought of this in years!

Yup! But no one listens to dish names! When I canned chili Colorado everyone wanted to use pork, I kept telling them all, I already have a Pozole recipe out. No one cares. 😂 I give up!! 😁 Use what you want, call it what you want. ❤️

Looks great, I do have a question unrelated, I was chatting with a friend and mention that I was looking into a press. canner. She told me that I wouldn't be able to use it on my glass top stove. Have you heard or know anything about that.

I washed them in hot, soapy water with white vinegar. You don’t need to sterilize them when pressure canning. 😊

Jeni, as always thank you for recipe. Especially, thank you for the explanation of chicken juices and shrinkage. I worried about that, you put my mind at ease. One question, how many servings do you get from a qt? No one seems to mention that when canning. We're 3 adults, sometimes 4, hard to judge how much to open for meal.

It’s because you can’t really say. My hubs and I could share one or sometimes he can eat the whole thing. If my friend Linda opens one, she’s little and it would give her 5 servings. It all depends on how much each of you eat, how you serve it and the extras that go with a meal. Only you would know that for your family. Sorry, there is no real answer. 😊
