I have also seen people who try to correct "pronouns" of a person from the LBGTQ+ to say "they/them", when not all want to be refered to as that but by the gender they were born with. Some it's just their sexual preferences, some it's both, etc. Everyone can be different. In the end, we all have to be respectful, not assume and the best way to reffer to someones is always using their name.
@Alex-fc8xnАй бұрын
Yeah people need to respect boundaries. It's similar to how some people are comfortable with reclaiming slurs in certain contexts (like my friends and I lovingly calling one another queer) but if someone says they're not ok with that you HAVE to respect it. In the case of gay men being called girl, I can definitely see how for many that can be a trigger for memories of homophobic bullying/harassment, but even when that isn't the case it really comes down to respect for how others want to be treated and not continuing to do or say things that people have expressed discomfort over. (With the exception of people trying to shut down important conversations by saying they are uncomfortable, like getting upset when someone points out that they did or said something racist. But that's entirely different)

I’m going to tell you the honest truth: we have to stop idolizing celebs. Part of the problem with these influencers is they’re wanting to be celebs SO badly for the attention. Ie, when you talked about how awesome zendaya is. We need to get to a point where we realize we don’t know celebs. They don’t know us. Ergo being obsessed with the idolatry is harming us.
@MiraBooАй бұрын
Agreed. You can casually admire someone’s public persona from a distance, but you have to also acknowledge that the persona isn’t the person; it’s a performative approximation of that person. It’s also fine to deeply admire a person’s achievements/work. But that admiration shouldn’t leak into the person’s private/personal life because they are still essentially strangers to you-and should remain as such. Letting that admiration grow into obsessive idolization is inappropriate and unhealthy. It creates unrealistic expectations and can enable delusional thinking. And it’s not fair to either the admirer (fan) or the admired (celebrity).
@larsvonrinpoche1229Ай бұрын

@CureSmilefulАй бұрын
I agree that Ian was treated horribly on camera and probably worse off camera, but I don't think it was misgendering in James' head (who knows maybe it was tho)(also not trying to defend that pos, I just don't think it was misgendering) since he calls everyone a sister, it's not gendered term in his channel's jargon, more like a petname for viewers and close people. That said since his little brother felt uncomfortable it's frustrating he didn't stop.
@eva1585Ай бұрын
@skylarpaul1248 While I agree and personally wouldnt care that much if my sister called me "brother" as a joke, Ian clearly was uncomfortable with it and as the older sibling (or just sibling in general) James should've dropped the "sister" after the second time he was corrected. At least that's what my sister would do because she cares about my comfort and doesnt have a narcissism flea in her ear telling her she needs to be right and double down in every single scenario.

@Alex-fc8xnАй бұрын
@skylarpaul1248 I'm trans and just wanted to say it's absolutely possible to misgender cis people, and cis people can feel gender dysphoria due to it. the difference is that their gender identity aligns with how others have perceived them since birth, but cis people can get dysphoria as well! Women feeling uncomfortable and waxing because they have beard hairs that grow naturally, for example. Most trans healthcare is also used for cisgender people, aside from bottom surgery except for in cases of mutilation and needing plastic surgery to recreate what they previously had. It's important to remember that cisgender people can be misgendered, because even if it's generally less violent/harmful it can still be done with negative intentions and cause emotional pain. It's also often used to perpetuate racism and misogyny (and toxic masculinity.)

Did anyone tell James he completely missed the entire secondary plot behind "IT"? Him not getting it tells me that he hasn't read a single King book, nor knows enough about his writing style to understand the concept behind the BOOK. Akso, King sells the rights to the stories in his books to sell to directors/screen writers to make movie adaptations of his books. Stephen King is a book author, NOT a movie director, screen writer, or what have you. He sells the ability to those who do make movies so they can make their vision of King's books into a movie format. King's money comes from books, that is literally his job - write stories. Sure, he has a cameo in almost all of the movie adaptations from his books, but the creative process of movie making is left up to directors, screen writers, etc. This is easily verifiable information readily available via interviews that King himself has done throughout the years. Also, rule #1 of theater etiquette says to put your phone on silent and away, there's literally a bit on the screen that says this before the movie starts. Most movie theater workers are trained to kick out anyone on their phone. The fact that he wasn't kicked out, and was on his phone throughout the movie would have pissed me off to no end if I were to have seen him do this. I am an AVID King fan, have read his books, have seen a lot of the movie adaptations, and is the only author I consistently read. IT in its full glory is terrifying from the BOOK that King wrote. Neither of the movies that King sells the rights for CHEAP on (and gets no income from profits for) are scary to this horror fan. I'm glad I didn't watch this guy other than his consistent downfalls by other channels.
