He loves to misgender, and erase all other sexualities, thinking all guys are homosexual, and loves to sexually manipulate heterosexual men into his favor. This to me, seemed like he some sort of sexual humiliation ritual, since he loves to platform his own sexuality, and pull innocent men into his games, as we've seen with Grayson Dolan. The Marlena situation made me believe he thinks he deserved to be part of that Netflix documentary & not Marlena, because he's thinks lack of experience and a buttload of handouts to James, was what made James supposedly more important for the documentary than anyone else.

This whole comment thread is hypocritical af. You're not psychologists. Nor do you see the future. Everyone struggles with human behavior and being appropriate, especially those who are young and living in the spot light. James has been an idiot, for sure, but let's stop diagnosing him, let's stop assuming that he's never going to change, and let's be understanding of the fact that a lot of this s*** happened before his brain finished developing. As somebody who is actually going to school for social sciences and trying to become a psychologist, the one thing that we all learn is that the brain does not finish developing until about the age of 25 to 27. Those years are the final stages of the brain developing. Yes, James did stupid things, but he was just a f****** kid. That doesn't excuse what he did, however, the way we address these issues matters and the way that it's being handled is problematic in itself because it's not actually helping the situation. It's actually creating more harm.

She doesn’t give me any reasons, she just won’t be my girlfriend and I really like her. The mom thought on this and said, well I guess you know what you have to do. He said, yeah, yeah, never give up. She stopped and looked at him and said, Absolutely not! When a girl says no, then that is your answer, respect it, you do not have the right to any girl or woman. You got your answer, move on. I thought that was such a great message for her son who was in grade 2 at the time, I believe. James' relationship to straight men is so interesting to me as a queer person myself. There IS such a thing as compulsory heterosexuality--basically, the idea that heterosexuality is seen as the "default". Queer people often (intentionally or unintentionally) try to fit into that default, and convince themselves that it's true. It really is entirely possible that some of the "straight" men he's been attracted to might have been repressing any less-than-heterosexual parts of themselves--sexuality is complicated! It is a fluid, complex thing that is different for any person. But that is always and forever for the person themselves to find out on their own, not for James to push them into. I think he truly believes that he's "liberating" these men from their comphet. I also remember at a certain point in the middle of all the back-and-forth following Bye Sister, lots of people accused Tati of being homophobic because she was talking about James' history with straight men. At the time it really did come off like a lot of homophobic stereotypes of predatory queer people. Turns out, sometimes stereotypes exist for a reason! It's wild looking back on the situation now, and realizing, no, she's wasn't being homophobic, she was actually completely right about him.
@randomhumanoidblob45065 ай бұрын
To be fair, hetero IS the default. We're mammals so evolutionary drives mean nothing is important except procreation. I'm not AT ALL saying that it should be a narrowly defined path, not at all. We don't know what causes same-sex pairings but they're seen across many species and, as you say, human sexuality is intensely complicated. I just think all these hopelessly messy young gay guys are so in-yer-face and so obnoxious (I don't care what colour, creed or gender you are, I don't want to see your arse) that it actively does a disservice to the LGB community. They create such a terrible negative stereotype it actively sets you all back and I can't stand them just for that reason. Gayness isn't always - in fact rarely, if my LGB mates are anything to go by - this flamboyant, almost drag-esque parody of women. I find his shtick incredibly insulting and it puts lesbians right at the bottom of the tree even in traditionally female areas. DSM V criteria for Narcissistic personality disorder A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behaviour), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by 5 (or more) of the following: 1. Has a grandiose sense of self-importance 2. Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love 3. Believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions) 4. Requires excessive admiration 5. Has a sense of entitlement 6. Is interpersonally exploitative 7. Lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others 8. Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her 9. Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes Sounds familiar? He needs professional help.

Yet: I find the diagnosis somewhat problematic, because harmful and narcissistic behavior (in my personal opinion) should perhaps not be treated as an "illness", since this only gives those narcissistic people further opportunity to evade their responsibilities, by acting as if "they couldn't help it anyway" I am convinced that narcissistic people such as JC (it's completely obvious with him) do not deserve professional treatment, the people they hurt should get access to treatment and destigmatization, they should be taken care of, to hell with the narcissistic people whom our society enables every day! Glad for your comment, again, completely agree, just wanted to point out a different angle🙂

Not really any ground to press charges. Maybe could get a restraining order. But they were all using each other for clout

I do remember seeing James’ collabs with the Dolan Twins and James constantly hitting on them. They seemed uncomfortable about it. I thought they were probably doing the collabs for clout and not real friends. Who wants someone like James constantly hitting on you if you are a young straight guy? I am as much of an ally as a person can be, but it made me uncomfortable, because they seemed uncomfortable. You don’t make your friends uncomfortable, if they are actually your friends. That’s when I decided to stop following James. The Tati thing happened not much later, and I wasn’t surprised.

Reuben posting about James’ fans being there for him might actually be the funniest thing I’ve heard today. Kid had some WIT, I hope he kept his sense of humor even after being attacked for that post.

I remembered the Netflix tweet impulse was bad, but they were "want to crale into a hole and die from second hand embarrassment" bad.

Shane made "being canceled" his entire personality, he's an opportunist who collabs with other "canceled" people to keep telling himself he's an empath while platforming people who dug their grave and refuse to lay in it.

The reason I take serious issue with the Grayson Dolan situation is because it reiterates and further spreads the stigma of “gay fear” aka homophobia. Truly… for all we know Grayson could have developed some homophobic fear from being targeted by James. To the best of my knowledge he hasn’t- but this is very real.. this does happen. That’s why it’s so dangerous.. I get that it was a “bit”, but you can feel Grayson’s discomfort. Peter Monn discusses this in a video not too long ago. Just like all the “isms”, there ARE still places in the United States where this is still normalized (which is VILE and ultimately ignorant)- I have heard HORROR STORIES… my daughters roommate her first year of college was a beautiful young woman with a deeper complexion… the things she experienced (she’s from Texas) in her day to day life WOULDN’T fly here. I have taught my daughter as I was taught- treat others with the respect that you wish to be treated with. My daughter was shocked, appalled- and I was too. I’ve never seen anyone treat a black person in the ways I’ve heard. Then again, the population I am used to is literally all ethnicities. It’s truly a melting pot. But I really thought the percentage of black and white people was almost equal… I believed it to be that way all over the US.. until the mid ‘00s. Call that whatever you like.. but that was my perception.

What makes anyone think that @ing a company and telling them they wasted their time and money by making a documentary and not getting your input would make them ever want to work with you?

Haha, I had the same thought! That audacity of that man, truly. Acting like a toddler about Netflix working with someone else... on a subject that he is actually had no experience on lollllll
Ok Jenn, you need an palette called "Foreshadowing" 😝

Ok, I thought she was rude to him in person like ignored him or rolled in her eyes in a celeb vs influencer type thing. She unfollowed him after learning about his bad behavior from her fans. He just can’t look within. It’s sad.

A drag race celebrity quote tweeting a comment of mine made me get death threats... So I know the power a retweet/quote tweet can have
@powersquirrel81565 ай бұрын
There are some drag race queens I wouldn't even want to subtweet. Katya said it best, the drag race fans are terrifying.

@@powersquirrel8156 facts!! I won't say who it was, but some professional folks with 20+ years of experience in a certain skill had negative opinions on a drag queen's talent show, I voiced those same opinions and that comment was posted on the queen's twitter and the homophobia, kinkshaming and death threats i got were SICK... Twitter even - correctly - removed the worst of it

I also want to add that it's not safe for a lot of gay men to even talk to straight men or seem like they're hitting on them. In many places in the US the law still states it's okay to attack gay men because the threat of being hit on. Straight men have been very harmful to gay men and others in the community and to make light of pursuing them and acting like assault behavior isn't terrible is just an overall moral failing. It's so dangerous and these kids are so young and that is legitimate concern about this stigma he's promoting. Even if other gay people don't follow his behavior straight men that do harm will use this stigma as evidence to justify their cruelty.

...James got mad bc the Netflix doc wasn't about him & not staring him...🙄😒
@tammystiletto5 ай бұрын
31:15 the fact that the documentary had nothing to do with anything James knew about. It was giving Jojo Siwaw claiming no one has ever had this big of a change before 😅

Jen, I think a lot of the “I didn’t know that existed” is audience age/demographic. Clearly, I was out of the demographic… but my daughter was in that demographic. So I did know a lot more about James than I needed to. The only things I knew first hand was from “drama channels” spilling all the tea. Then the kids are defending James saying things are exaggerated and made up. 😮 She has matured a lot and realized her Mom was right about a lot of things.

What’s sickening is how much bully training these young viewers got. These kids were literally being taught to be the trolls.

Ive only recently begun to watch Jen Luv's channel and it only took me a few vids to say i really like this girl. I luv how she speaks so expressively with her hands & she does this very well. But then i started to ask myself "why has it taken me this long to really find out about Jen Luv?...shes been on KZbin forever and has hundreds of videos?" Then after doing a lil research i realized why its taken me this long to find her and thats because the woman isnt a drama seeker and is never into controversy. Shes just a kind classy lady sharing info in a fun & informative way to the people who luv and watch her. Then we turn around and look at someone like a James Charles. Millions of dollars, millions of subs, millions of fans, millions of views and EVERYONE knows who he is but I'd bet a year salary that he doesn't sleep good at night like this woman does.

"thats because the woman isn't a drama seeker and is never into controversy" Well, actually she is, just in a different way. That's exactly why she eventually decided to focus on controversial content. She explains her KZbin journey in a previous video and says it herself. She realized that what works to make a full time KZbin income is to make content that is about controversy.

My only comment is about the Cody part. I have been wearing makeup for well over a decade and I had a reaction out of the blue to a blush. I was talking with my husband dipped my brush into the blush did 2 swipes per cheek then the burning began. After immediately removing all makeup AND a big dose of Benadryl I was diagnosed with a severe allergic reaction as well as a CHEMICAL burn. I now can not wear ANY cosmetics that are bright/neon pink. I am fair skinned and did know about our tendency for staining and my son’s constant development of new allergies over his lifetime has taught me that you BECOME allergic to things so I didn’t flip out and the store gave me not only a refund but a 20 dollar gift card as well so I could afford any blush I wanted to replace it😊
