Love this movie. Can't believe how underrated it is with the all-star cast. Between Bruce, Morgan, John, then you add Helen Mirren, you can't go wrong. Mary Louise Parker is an actress I've been in love/lust with for a long time even before she was on Weeds. RED 2 is one of those sequels that lives up to the first movie.

“The worlds most dissatisfied Olive Garden patron” is somehow a really effective shtick for a character actor. I loved him as a lead/antagonist the few times it happened, but he has really moved into a place where he gets to have fun and add flavor to movies that would be less interesting without him.

Why this movie isn't talked about more - and reacted to more - is a mystery to me. It is so incredibly fun. Great performances from an absolutely loaded cast, and such a witty script. Okay, so it's not *entirely* realistic (Mythbusters did a bit on the bullet vs. rocket launcher thing, and it just doesn't work that way), but this is the kind of movie where you ignore that and just go with the flow. So glad you reacted to this one. The second one is okay, but it's nowhere near as good as this one.

John Malkovich was using a S&W Model 460V revolver, it's caliber was S&W 460, a very large bullet. To give context, bullets weight is measured in something called grain, higher grain number means a larger bullet. A 9mm, a very common handgun semi auto pistol is usually 124 grain. A powerful revolver like my .357 Magnum is 158 grain. My big game revolver used for bear defense is .44 Magnum and 240 grain. John's revolver, the S&W 460, would probably have a 275 grain bullet, something bigger than my revolver used to stop giant grizzly bears.

RED as an limited series (3 issues) debuted 20 years ago by Wildstorm, imprint of DC Comics. The first film was great. Very few had known of it to be based on something from DC. But it was the star-studded cast that brought out the masses. Very well written and directed in way that didn't feel like a comic-book. Still it was entertaining This was the final film for the late, great Ernest Borgnine (Henry). Part 2 was great too (check out that one). Part 3 was announced, a decade ago and sadly will never happen. "The Losers", a film based on DC's Vertigo imprint came out the same year as RED by a few months earlier (definitely check out that one).
