Well as of right now the Hollywood world is not so sure of that. Because after the films release the ratings were really bad and it made very little money compared to what they spent to create it. But what people have to understand is just because Jennifer and the team have been running all over promoting the film doesn't mean that it's going to be a hit. It's the same way when someone comes out with a new CD, book, or anything else.
@kemariemaragh-campbell67213 жыл бұрын
@@faznout the ratings are not really bad , it's the critics that are trying to tear down the film and most of them are white and dont like to see black directors on powerful iconic projects like these . Usually it would be a white director that directs a biopic of this kind . The critics score is 64 % meanwhile the audience score is 96 % on rotten tomatoes, its clearly not on par, doesnt this indicate something to you ??? If the film is "soooo bad " why does the audience enjoy it soo much that it has an A+ cinema rating .. the audience will always be honest and speak above the critics when there is dishonesty or bias in reviews . It's the same thing they did with bohemian rhapsody and yet the audience loved it . Rami malek still won his oscar . As for box office perfomance it now currently sits at 10 million while it could have been better I think this is still a good start considering we are in a pandemic where people are reluctant of going to the movie theaters and this number is pretty decent for that reason. Respect film sales is not a product of disinterest or failed promotion or failure to be a hit . It can easily be a hit but like many other films are struggling at the box office because of people's reluctance of going to the theatre. Sadly , this will be the case for many films to come in the future . So at the end of the day , respect is not a failure and this is just a debut ... it hasnt even been released in other countries yet . I believe jennifer still has a shot , as long as her performance continues to maintain buzz until awards season peak then she can still win. Of course there will be other contenders but as of now she is in the run for at least a nomination . Critics dont entirely influence a film or a persons award chances at the end of the day it's just their opinions and they aren't academy voters
@faznout3 жыл бұрын
@@kemariemaragh-campbell6721 - Jennifer fans enjoy seeing Jennifer. There are 2 big differences here. Number 1 is, there are Jennifer Hudson fans that only went to see the film to see Jennifer Hudson. Jennifer could have been Casted to play Minnie Mouse and it would have gotten the same turn out. Number 2 is, there are Aretha Franklin fans that went to see the film to see a small part of her life portrayed on film. So there is a big difference between saying I enjoyed the film and it's entirety compared to saying I only went to see the film to see and hear Jennifer's singing performances. So just because "Jhud" fans liked her singing performances in the film doesn't mean in the eyes of Hollywood the actual film itself is a hit. For many years the way Hollywood looks at these things is on the 1st night of its release they checked the numbers $$$, ratings, and reviews. Comparing what money came in compared to what was spent to create the film. They spent over 55 million dollars to make this film and made less than 10 million the first few nights. So in the eyes of Hollywood the first few nights is all that matters. Not the people who will go see a film a month after it's released.
