Unpopular opinion: I accept Jennifer's argument but to be fair when you watch the show back she spent most of the time on stage 'posing' and just letting the music play out with just dancing and no singing and there were long pauses between transitions. It felt and looked ego driven whereas Shakira just came to have a good time. Shakira managed to make the short time she had work with lots of energy and hasn't complained since. Personally I think she was threatened by Shakira because Shakira has more up to date high energy songs, is super confident without needing validation and can really shake her ass.

Case in point and some very recent: Dr. Dre's Superbowl Halftime show was on point and spectacular. Plus, it was legendary--not only for the rap and hip hop community, but also for the black community. Who would have thought those WM men hiding behind their fancy suits would have invited Dr. Dre to headline Halftime? Dre said when he was asked, he knew immediately who he wanted and wasted no time asking/inviting them. Em, Mary, Snoop, 50, Kendrick, and Dre himself were all honored and excited to be sharing the stage with each other. It was actually a historic moment.

In the documentary, she said she took offense when the NFL thought they needed TWO latinas instead of one, as if one isn’t enough… in comparison to a single white singer or band such as Maroon 5 the previous year. I agree. I was really excited to see Jlo, but found myself more into Shakira’s performance. Also, around the time Jlo started her Vegas residency, she began to always reprise her hits in a melody whenever she performed on television and it got to the point where as a viewer, we no longer got nostalgic because we watched her perform her hits so many times over the past 6+ years. But the minute we heard Shakira, that rush of nostalgia came in and we got even more excited for the performance. Nevertheless, both performances where great. Shakira’s just hit different for a lot of people.

Jennifer dancers represented the diversity of Miami too lol. Not only her backup dancers but she also brought in an entire dance class filled with hopeful young kids, little Latina kids watching that and seeing they are represented, it was everything. Kids are the future, minority children need to dream and realize anything is possible in this Country with hard work. People of color have to work twice as hard to make it but JLO was telling them you can make it! I really enjoyed this documentary. And I think I did so even more partly because I knew nothing about it until I seen it appear on Netflix out of nowhere, so it was a nice surprise. She definitely seemed authentic and honest, which was refreshing. She and Shakira should have had their own slot on different years, they've earned that! Interesting when the doc mentioned the owner of the NFL being a Republican/Trump donor whilst Jennifer was being told the cages weren't wanted "from the highest order". Everyone always tries to twist what she says and does. For JLO fans it got old long ago and still tends to put us in fight mode. Again I apologize for what I said. JLO didn't say anything badly about Shakira, nor did she mean it at all. You must not read the label only. You must watch the entire video or read the full article. I don't understand that Shakira fans are so hateful and envious of all celebrities and especially JLO. It's JLO who figured out the two ladies would split the time in half, it was JLO who figured out the whole SuperBowl show, it was JLO who was the first to be invited to SuperBowl. JLO has nothing against Shakira, both of these ladies love each other and support each other. When JLO said sharing the stage with Shakira was the worst idea in the world. She meant that the two singers had to work much harder than the other singers. Because both singers were given about 12 minutes and both of them divided it into 6 minutes, so that each had half the time. Thanks to 6 minutes, both singers had to think about what songs will be heard, in what order and especially about how it will all sound, because you only have 6 minutes, it's not about 12/15 minutes. So because of that, both singers had to work hard on that performance, at every rehearsal, they had to work harder than other artists. To make that performance look the way it did, because it was the best performance on SuperBowl!
