The Lovely singers are Floor Jansen, who you know. Anneke van Giersbergen (Floors inspiration) is THE godmother of (female fronted) symphonic metal in Europe. She and her band "The Gathering" predated Nightwish and Tarja, and she was the inspiration for many of the later more well known singers such as Floor Jansen, Sharon den Adel, Simone Simons, Charlotte Wessels, etc, etc... Marcela Bovio (Star One, MaYaN, ex-Stream of Passion, ex-Elfonía), an Ayreon regular and Talent from Mexico. The song is off 'The Electric Castle' Album. This song is perfect blend of huge talent on stage !!!! NWSU/Ayreonaut/FloorFan ✌😎🤘.

You really need to check out "Strange Machines" by The Gathering ... featuring Anneke. If you get an early live version, you'll understand why she is the inspiration for so many Dutch female metal singers. She needs a statue to which we can all pilgrimage, because just count the ridiculous amount of talent coming from that small country in way of female vocalists. You could spend a week just covering Dutch female metal singers and never cease to be amazed. Marcela is highly under-rated as well. She's a true vocal chameleon, as displayed as she changed her method of harmonization for each singer.

The thing about any of the artists Arjen Lucassen employs; none of them seem to have big egos, which is weird because you don't become an artist on their level without one. Love that you got to hear Marcela's voice. I am a huge fan and IMO she is second only to Floor in her versatility, power and storytelling ability. In addition to fronting several of her own bands and doing solo work she also is in high demand providing backing vocals for many bands, including much of the backing vocals for Epica. She was a singer in Mexico when she answered a talent search by Arjen specifically looking for new singers for Ayreon. Her first role was the Wife on The Human Equation album. Highly recommend her song Out in the Real World from her band Stream of Passion (project with Arjen) from the The Electric Castle and Other Tales live Ayreon show. Also highly recommend Loneliness #1 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnKlgo2ofruDpsk) and #2 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3i7f35nlr5nmqs) from her latest solo EP. She has a great video on her YT channel showing how she created the backing vocals for the chorus. A great song that really shows her versatility is the song Rebirth from Despair with the band MaYan, live from the Master's of Rock. My favorite song of hers though is Here to Stay. From the album Here to Stay where each song was written based on idea's or experiences of her patron's that helped crowdfund her previous solo album. Song is inspired by the story of man who was told he might have cancer while undergoing some medical tests. Turned out he didn't and the song is about his relief and new outlook on life as a result. About a year after the song was released Marcela had her own battle with cancer which she won. This recording in her home studio was a few months after finding out she was cancer free and you can feel how meaningful the song is for her. Just beautiful. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKC2dYeKab-Kj9U.

Very interesting analysis.. This is from the opera Into the Electric Castle. Marcela is in the chorus, Anneke plays the Egyptian. Floor has no actual role in the play, but appears (probably) because she did the chorus together with her sis Irene in the 2003 sessions, and sang lead in the Valley then. This is from the 2019 live show. I can really recommend more songs to react to. In Isis and Osiris the journey starts off, we see the first contestants appear, introduced by... Q from Startrek(!). In Amazing Flight two more appear, guess who is the Hippie... Then the contestants begin to fail and perish.. First the Highlander played by Fish, in The Tunnel of Light. Also, in The Garden of Emotions we see the Egyptian becoming so disappointed that her Gods do not appear that she gives up singing the Valley of the Queens. Also the indian, played by Simone Simons, passes away because she becomes enamoured by growlin death spirits played by... her Epica band mates Mark and Guus in the song Cosmic Fusion. There has been a reactor who mixed up this 2019 registration with earlier ones, embarrassing herself by giving the wrong names... Just to warn ye... Slightly beside the Castle story is the song Twisted Coil with a master role of Damian Wilson still wearing his blood stained coat.

Although I'm less fond of the more nasal tone Anneke has now, that's never going to make me any less of a fan of her. Anneke is the godmother of the Dutch metal scene. Her 1995 song "Strange Machines" changed the Dutch metal scene and inspired an entire generation of female Dutch metal singers. She's fantastic, and I recommend you check out "Strange Machines" "Valley of the Queens" is also an oldie: it's from Ayreon's 1998 album "Into The Electric Castle", their first double album and still my favourite. There, Anneke sang this song on her own (I think, but both melody lines). The other female singer on that album was Sharon den Adel from Within Temptation, which at some point was the biggest Dutch metal band, and one of the biggest Dutch bands period.

@RudyBleeker Жыл бұрын
It's funny that you compared Anneke with Kristin Chenoweth. Julia Nilon made the exact same comparison when listening to this song. Personally her tone is a bit too nasal for my taste, but she's a great singer nonetheless and as has been pointed out by many, she pioneered the female fronted symphonic metal genre in Europe with The Gathering. This is her song though. On the album this is a solo song for Anneke who plays The Egyptian in a story where an immortal alien being puts humans from different times and places in a simulation that where they have to choose between progressing their quest or die, while the alien entity is judging their worth. It was Anneke's idea to bring more voices in for this performance, Arjen did a bit of musical rearranging to get the harmonies correct and with these 3 ladies it turned out beautifully, which is probably why she seems so proud at the end of the song. Knowing Anneke she's probably very proud of her colleagues and the performance as a whole. If you want more, a lot more, look up Isis and Osiris Live in Tilburg 2019, the opening song from the concert where the entire album Into the Electric Castle was performed live, which this song is also a part of. It's a 10 minute song and has a bit of the same vibe as The Day That The World Breaks Down, lots of different vocalists and musical styles.

Hey Jennifer I made a comment with two links to youtube videos. One for 'Ih Ah' live from Devin Townsend with Anneke and the other for 'Travel' by The Gatehring. But mu comment was deleted, twice! Why did this happen? NOt allowed to give a link on this channel? Please let me know I am flabbergasted...

I often find comments with links get deleted on YT. Now I make a post with a suggestion, then reply to it with a link, so at least the suggestion remains if the link disappears
