This is a very old recording she recorded this song when she was 13-14. Yrs old written by Bill Mack for Patsy Cline but she died in a plane crash and didn’t get to do it, Bill Mack was a Radio DJ heard very late nights out of Ft Worth Tx truck drivers loved his show, He gave it to Leann to record as he felt she was as close to Patsy in style

No. Remarkably the single was recorded when she was 11. There's an interview with her on You Tube where she explains that she recorded it as an 11 year-old, then re-recorded it for release as a single when she was 13 - but there was a mix-up with the tapes and it was the original version which ended-up being released.

It was not written for Patsy Cline.

Although LeAnn DID record this song while working on the album when she was 13, she stated in an interview that there was a mix up and the version which was actually released was recorded when she was only 11.

She has abilities that very few singers can match. Check out the Masked Sun singer and all the songs she sang in that TV show. She won of course. She is now in her 40's and can still belt a tune. A Capella performance of Amazing Grace will make you cry. It's a rabbit hole but worth traveling. Stay happy.

Since this is a new artist to the channel, something to consider is that she was only 13 years old when she recorded this... In my opinion, a flawless performance of an instant classic.

I'm of the opinion that her singing is under-appreciated. She was just a baby in this video, maybe 15 years old. Always had a clean adult voice, even at 10 years old. To me, a really talented and gifted singer, across all the genres she sings.

Please check out Ruby Leigh from last season on the Voice. She was a 16 year old Country/Western singer on Reba McIntyre's team. You don't have to react if you don't have time but for your own enjoyment Ruby's blind audition was amazing. She is so fast and accurate with her yodeling, she had the judges gobsmacked. Totally different than LeAnn's style of yodeling but I find them both so amazing. Great reaction as always Jen. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and analysis. Peace and love to all.✌🤗

I remember the first time I heard Leann sing this song via television, like this. I was in my early teens and had just an embryonic knowledge of country music but when I heard that voice emanating from the television, being projected by this little girl no less, I thought "surely there are angels living among us, camouflaged as human beings because this voice is just other-worldly. Granted, I had a very limited exposure to country music at the time but I struggled to reconcile what I was hearing with my reality, and the only conclusion I was able to reach was that "THIS EXTRAORDINARILY ANGELLIC VOICE IS SIMPLY UNPARALLELED AND HER TALENT IS STAGGERING - SHE'S NOT HUMAN"
@drekfletch9 ай бұрын
When she first released the recording, it was a THING, I heard about her even here where country music isn't as popular. It was a big moment in the History of Western Music.

The fact that she was so young when she did this performance shows that this is just as naturally as breathing for her. The recording that was first released by the record company was actually laid down when she was ELEVEN. They got her to record it again at age 13, but due to some stuff up, the older track was the one that got released.

As much as I love my Pentatonix and Home Free. In my opinion LeAnn Rimes' version of "Amazing Grace" is the absolute golden standard, easily S Tier, and I'm not sure anyone else will ever come close to matching it. I saw her live and impromptu acapella back in early spring of 1994 at Winn Morton's ranch in Lancaster, TX. Stage was some 2x6's & plywood we set up over hay bales in front of the stables. A bunch of old cowboys & cowgirls (and this young man) couldn't believe that big voice was coming out of that young little lady. Shades of Patsy Cline & Brenda Lee. I swear the entire ranch stopped and listened, even the horses were calm. The ladies were up in the Big House doing a home tour and charity auction, and they all came out there too. Up until Mandy Barnett's first record, she was the closest I ever heard anyone come to sounding like Patsy.
