I think these guys did a great cover of Randy Travis' song especially with Tim taking the lead. What I love about Home Free is how respectful they are of the original song without adding unnecessary things. No theatrics or bass drops. Just beautiful singing & harmonies with Adam adding his special touch. I thought it was cute when Tim sung about hair turning grey & he looked up at his own hair.

I think one of the things that adds to the message of this song is that Tim never sings very low. He could have easily done so on any of those slides, but he keeps his voice focused on what's best for the song.

Home Free explained at a live interview and performance at Paste Magazine that they usually all record themselves solo when choosing new music. They then decide which voice or voices work best on the lead vocals. After deciding who is leading, Adam Rupp goes to work on the percussion.

Tim is the obvious choice hear. Randy is a bari-tenor. I sang this song once just having fun at a karaoke years ago and it almost 'scraped' me off at the bottom. Randy's voice is deceptively low when he tales down at the end of a lyric line. Caught me of guard that night!

Miss Jenn tomorrow is my birthday - June 23rd !!! :) This is an ICONIC song from Randy Travis....came out in 1987 and in 1988 he collected a GRAMMY for Country Song of the Year, also in 1988 he received a Country Music Association award for Forever, and also in 1988 a Academy of Country Music Song of the Year award.....Randy has had some bad luck as of recently....Randy had a major stroke that took out his ability to walk unassisted and also took his vocal abilities away too. I used to dance the Texas Two-step with my wife to this song before she passed away in 1991

Well Jen, you are now definitely a home fry through and through like we are. Great cover and remember to keep the original artist Randy Travis and his family in prayers as he is not in good shape. Loved the more simple cover and you mentioned the chord and note bend at the end. That’s not the 1st time Austin has delivered that sound and closely imitate a steel guitars note bending.
