Hello Jennifer and staff, I have tried about a 1000 times to sublimate on wood slices. I have used real wood slices I got from a friend that cut down several trees. I let it dry out for several months and even pre heated it, but they either show up really light, blurry or just look really bad, then i tried the wood slices i bought from michaels, dollar tree and hobby lobby. Same results with them. i am trying to do a special 4 generation picture of my mom, her mom, her grandmother and myself from when i was little. This is one of her favorite pics so I want it to be as perfect as i can make it. Please help. What am i doing wrong? Thank you for your help. Lisa Donnelly-Hughes

I brought the autopress when it was first sold on HSN. Plugged it in to make sure I completed the registration in time to validate the warranty and it's been sitting on the floor since. I purchased a Sawgrass sublimation printer in April and took their online courses. I sublimated a mug for a friend who had his 1st grandchild. The mug had a wooden bamboo lid, so once I did the mug it seemed the lid should have something on it, so I finally watched several KZbin University videos, came across yours and decided to do the thermal laminate method to keep the natural look. It had some unevenness after the laminate and again when the image was pressed, so I did a 3rd for 15 sec and that took care of it. While I like the look, because everyone in the image is dressed in white, the grain of the wood comes through the clothing, but that was to be expected. Thank you so much the comparisons and for such a thorough and easy-to-understand video for this process.

Jennifer - why is my paint turning yellow when i heat set it before laying on the sublimation? is there a right and a wrong type of paint to use? I have been using a satin white latex paint from Sherwin Williams. I'm using my heat press on 380 degrees for 60 seconds. After my paint cures I have put a semi-gloss polycrylic on it and even tried a clear HTV vinyl. But no matter what i put on top of the white latex paint my paint will yellow. I love sublimating on tshirts, but I'm ready to give up the wood projects! Help please!

I keep having issues with the HTV sublimation vinyl method. My images keep cracking following the temps and times you mentioned. I assume its too much heat for too long causing my issue possibly? I had to increase the first step to 30 seconds to get the vinyl to stick enough to remove the carrier, if I did 20 seconds it didn't stick enough to handle separation from the carrier. Any ideas to not have the cracking?

I read that the canvas that you buy like at Hobby Lobby are triple primed with acrylic titanium. Can I use acrylic paint to prime and then laminate different things and sublimate on them?

There are a few reasons that can happen. The heat isn't at the proper temp. for sublimation, or if the surface is't meant for sublimation - the ink will wipe away. 😊🌻
