I had to cut it off as the video would’ve been too long (longer than it already is)! If I didn’t answer your question this time, I’ll do another one in the future and hopefully get to all-or at least most of-your questions eventually. Many people asked similar questions, too, so I tried my best to be selective for the sake of time. And I didn’t want to wait too long to film it; I know you understand! Be well and stay well.

I'm in my young 20s and your reminders to develop a close relationship with myself and not to care what other people think have been helping me a lot. My relationship with myself has fluctuated a lot the past few years, I've always been the happiest when I've felt I was cultivating a strong sense of self. I've been struggling recently and have been feeling so frantic about finding a solution to make me feel better. Your videos are helpful and you seem so calm and centered when you speak, I feel really comforted when I watch them.

I know this was years ago.. how ever if any of you younger ones read this.. please follow this woman's advice. She is very wise... And speaking from self experience, DO NOT follow the trends or beat your confidence and self up if you don't look like the influencers,do not think your not beautiful just because your skin isn't flawless. LOVE YOURSELF!! I wish I would have cared less about what others thought of me and cared more about loving myself and embracing my skin and self regardless of how it looked! At 29 I am still not as confident as I should be. I cared to long about how others looked at my and what they thought that it is now SO HARD to change that, since I've been in that mindset for so long!!!! Do not get wrapped up in that realm! PLEASE DO NOT!! LOVE YOURSELF AND BE CONFIDENT IN YOURSELF 💜 I am still not where I want to be in that aspect, as I said it's hard to change that perspective but I am TRYING and that's all that matters! ❤️

I respect you for producing these videos Jennifer. My impression is there are very few introverted, thoughtful, earnestly rational and mindful people speaking on social media. I think all ages of people benefit from your thoughtful posts, but I imagine young women especially as you make for a great role model. "Role model" is perhaps an overly stilted way of saying it, but I hope you take my meaning. The term fits for many reasons - one being that you aren't arrogantly asserting that you've got all the answers for everyone or even yourself. In fact you have been explicit that the extroverted act of producing youtube videos doesn't come naturally to you and you are doing it to challenge yourself and grow. So part of your being a great role model is that you are modeling the behaviour of self-aware personal growth. You demonstrate many admirable qualities in doing so, but the one I find most compelling and really keeps me watching your posts is your genuine humility - it's a wonderful anecdote to the ubiquitous social media narcissism in evidence today. As an aside, however psychologically silly the phenomenon, I was tickled when you mentioned why you gravitated to intermittent fasting. I also found getting control of my calorie intake difficult because I really enjoy eating full meals - the feeling of satiation is wonderful. Intermittent fasting allows me to continue to enjoy this quality experience. When I tried simply calorie restricting continuously, I constantly felt like I was denying myself something. With intermittent fasting, every other day when I dramatically limit my calorie intake, it's psychologically tenable because I just have to wait till the next day to enjoy a larger meal experience again. It's important to thread the needle of effectively comporting ourselves physiologically and psychologically while still allowing the big kid within us to feel fulfilled.
@seanwalker48684 жыл бұрын
@@JenniferMyers Thank you for that fulsome response. I'm also introverted, so much of what you said seems very similar to my own self-experience - though to what extent it actually corresponds who can say! (lol) I myself however did experience shyness along with my introversion. I still have it to some extent. For example, I avoid a lot of social interactions, partly because human artifice makes me quite uncomfortable - but I also feel 'shy' about feeling uncomfortable. My career inured me significantly to it, because as I became a more senior software engineer, I ended up having to do a lot of presentations/training. Curiously, I was good at it almost from the start. Although I loathed the prospect of doing them initially, I came to find the experience of them deeply liberating - as I guess most of us do when we overcome irrational or limiting phobias. Phobia, in part, my social discomfort was. I call this shyness. Like everything we attempt to describe with our language, I'm sure there are other wuite different things that people mean by shyness. You characterized yourself as a neurologically atypical female. You come across that way. Had I not seen you in your videos, but instead just read your thoughts, I would have put heavy odds on you being a man. It may seem misogynist of me (though I don't believe it really is at all) you quite apparently strive for objectively valid perspectives. Not that most men do this, but it seems to me to be more common in men. Even in exploring your 'intuition' (a nebulous but I believe valid descriptor - especially in the way I have heard you use it, which seems to be basically individual awareness and exploration of your subjective cognitive experience) you very evidently do so like you are exploring an objective truth - not as an essentially creative/interpretive exercise. It's a refreshing quality to witness and another reason I'm glad you are making your videos. We need more rational voices out there! :)

You look so beautilful and full of joy in this video! Thanks for all your advice, it's really useful. I am in my 30s and still not clear about myself and my life but I feel only now I am getting there little by little and I moved on so much recently, especially in this pandemic times with a lot of time to tune into ourselves and think about what really matters. I feel deeply transformed! During my teen years and 20s I've been totally uncertain about who I was and had no purpose.. Almost I feel the opposite of your experience and had quite a "dark" times when I was young. But that's okay, everyone has their times for inner growth. Would love a more detailed video about how you journal on a daily basis. I have a nice day agenda where I mainly write all sort of reflections and things I'm grateful for every single day. I love practising gratitude and that had helped me enormously to stay focus on the positive even in difficult times. Another question is, have you even struggled with depression in your life? (I hope this isn't a too private question, but I totally believe we need to talk about it. It's still a taboo but so so many of us go through it, I had myself)
@JenniferMyers4 жыл бұрын
Hi. Focusing on what we're grateful for having (as opposed to using energy on wishing we had certain things for instance) is what's helped me so many times avoid feeling overly depressed. I've experienced episodic/situational depression, yes. Mental health topics are never a taboo in my books. If there's one shared experience among all human beings, it's struggle--no matter what that picture looks like for each person; we all know struggle. I personally have found that the best treatment for my own depression has been volunteering. Because in my experience it's impossible for me to spend energy feeling sorry for myself, down or depressed when I'm using my energy to help or to serve another person. That's precisely why I invest in myself to the degree which I do, because I cannot do the type of work I do unless my reserves are taken care of first. It's a large part of why meditation and yoga practice are a daily habit, a pure necessity, for me. It's been my choice to opt out of taking pharmaceuticals to treat any of the mental health struggles I've had (be they in my past or currently). That of course comes down to personal choice. During the time I was seeing a psychiatrist, I had tried several medications without any benefit (and terrible side effects which outweighed any potential benefit for that matter; so it wasn't a viable treatment option for me). But for some people, medications work wonders. It's all dependent on so many individual factors. Everyone is different--everyone's path is different. Good luck.

Hi Jennifer, lovely video (as always ;)) I have a very important question for you. Have you’re eyes ever been itchy or burned from using castor oil? Because I’ve been using it for quite some time now and all of a sudden my eyes now started to itch and even burn a little bit too. I use jamaican black castor oil and can’t image it would come from that. How much do you actually use? I love to use it on my lashes and eyebrows and really enjoy applying it, as you mentioned in one video, it’s like a ritual that I’m looking forward every day and I would be really sad if I had to stop now. So I thought maybe you’ve had a similar experience. Would love to hear from you! :) Best regards and stay safe, Hanna

Hey! I have no experience using Jamaican castor oil, so I apologize but I can't speak to it. I have never experienced any adverse effects from the use of the castor I've been using for a number of years. I know everyone is different, though. I've heard people having negative effects from it. Like with anything else, it depends on a number of individual factors and not everyone will share the same experience. My eyes never itch or burn, but that's simply one person's experience (mine).
