I don't know who Jenny Powell is but it just shows you that not all Brits know about afternoon tea etiquette; case in point, how to eat a scone. If you are interested in learning, watch the "Chateau des Fleurs-Tea with Adam Gottesman" (very informative) or "English afternoon tea etiquette with William Hanson" (a bit pretentious but lots of pointers).

Everything she does during the afternoon tea is (accordingly with its etiquete) wrong. The way she eats her scone is quite unsophisticated. Sorry, I am not English but frequently attend afternoon tea -at different locations- in our city.
