Pretty sure this would work: 1) Ask any duck "what's 1+1?", just to immediately establish which team is lying 2) Go around asking "is the goose?" The question is technically different because the color/number combo is different, it's legal 3) Accuse the goose Rules lawyering is the best way to win lol

Remember, you never *need* to know which gang is lying. That's a waste of a question. Just phrase each question to start with "If I asked the _other_ gang..." and the answer will ALWAYS be a lie, so take the opposite. Or in other words, just swap which response means yes and which means no. So if two quacks meant no originally, now it means yes. "If I asked the other gang if the goose were above number 5, what would they say?" "Quack quack" "OK, so it is..." Then pick the midpoint of the numbers each time. 10 "ducks" can be sorted in a maximum of four questions.

​@@gomezgomezian3236 well, you can ask Duck 1 'is Duck 1 a duck', then go on like that. It's probably not optimal, but it should get it done in on average like 5 guesses. The most 'logical' solution is probably to establish which team speaks the truth, then do binary search asking 'Is the Goose one of Ducks 1 through 5', then depending on the answer do 'Is the Goose one of the Ducks 1 through 3' then '2 or 3' and then '2', but depending on luck as we see there that will take 5 guesses too worst case (but 5 worst case is better than 5 average case, and this has decent probability of getting 4 :) )

lol that duck duck goose one seems pretty straight forward. Ask a red one if they're red to ascertain which team is lying, then ask the one in the middle of the truth team if the goose is on the left, if it is then you're only down to two options and should get it with one more question, if it's not then you're down to 3 and get it with two more at most. Max 4 questions to get it.

It's a circle though, so every other duck is technically to the left or right of the duck you're asking. You're better off finding the truth team, finding out which team the goose is on, then asking questions like "is the goose an even number"

The trick with most liar/truth-teller puzzles is to use hypotheticals, and in this case to use a nested logic structure for your hypothetical questions. Assuming I am understanding the setup correctly, ask each duck "If I were to ask you whether you were a goose, would you say yes (or quack once in this case)?" You are asking a question within a question, the inner question is "are you a goose" and the outer question is "If I were to ask you X would you say yes?" They are being asked how they would answer the question, NOT to answer the question directly. If they are a truth telling duck they will answer honestly that they would say no to this question. If they are a lying duck their answer to "are you a goose" will be yes but they will lie about it when asked how they would respond, so their answer will still be no. A truth-telling goose will respond yes to both questions, so you end up with a response in the affirmative. A lying goose will say no to the inner question but will lie about that response when asked how they would respond, so due to the double negative you still end up with a response in the affirmative. No matter whether you are talking to a goose or a duck, a liar or a truth-teller, a negative response will always tell you that you are talking to a duck and a positive response will always tell you that you are talking to a goose. By then end you will still have no idea which team were the liars and which were the truth-tellers but the way the question has been set up it doesn't matter. This is basically a simplified version of the Three Alien Gods logic puzzle but without the complications of a third team that answers truthfully or lies randomly and you actually know what a positive or negative response means.

Hope the below helps: To determine the accused in what team (Red R, Blue B): 1. Ask R1: "Will B1 agree to the fact that the goose (G) is in your team?" Reasoning with G is actually in B team: a. If Rs always tell lies (Bs truths then B1 will not agree), then R1 will say "yes". b. If Rs always tell the truths (Bs lies then B1 will agree), then R1 will say "yes". Reasoning with G is actually in R team: a. If Rs always tell lies (Bs truths then B1 will agree), then R1 will say "no". b. If Rs always tell the truths (Bs lies then B1 will not agree), then R1 will say "no". Which means, regardless of whether R1 is telling the truth, if the answer is "yes", you can identify that G is in B; if R1 say no, then G is in Red. So you find out where G is in what team. 2. Then you can go to that team, and ask if G is in their team to confirm if they always tell the truths or vice versa. 3. The next question you can try is: ask the team identified as always tell the truths: is the number of the accused >5, So you need 2 more questions to finally find the number of the accused.

With duck duck goose, I'm not sure on the correct approach, but I'd start by asking number 1 if number 2 would confirm they are a liar. From there I'd ask the next available honest one if the goose is on their team. With a little luck it could be as quick as 4 questions total using that method, worst case, should be 5.
