I may be wrong, and it may be only a small point, but I am pretty sure that Cloud and Zack were infused with cells from Sephiroth, which, yes, are Jenova-mako enhanced, but not pure Jenova cells like the three firsts. As I believe that Angeal, Genesis and Sephiroth coming together in SOLDIER may be partly due to Jenova's influence-The Reunion Theory. Genesis and Angeal both succumb to Degradation (which IMO can be compared to Geostigma), and we see them turning into monsters (if you will) with the Genisis and Angeal copies and Angeal fusing himself with monsters. And all through the OG, we see Cloud and the robe figures being manipulated and controlled by Sephiroth, not Jenova, as Hojo commented in-game. So I am curious about seeing characters like Roche, Kunsel and even Luxerre if they have been infused with Jenova cells-Not S cells and whether or not they can't be manipulated by Sephiroth...? And on the flip side, if this theory will be applied to Genesis with the Tsviets...? But I do hope the difference will be highlighted in rebirth.

YES! Finally someone talking about the most interesting character in FF7. I think it would be cool for Jenova to become "active" in some way, even if its just her eyes following cloud or something. Just to spark more conversation about whether she is sentient or not. Personally, I think Jenova is sentient and just playing "dead". Mostly because I don't think Seph will be the final villian of part 3, it's just too predictable imo.

Indeed. It's a good moment to confirm Jenova's bionomy, origin, history, powers and a good flashback of Cetra vs Jenova, the real facts. Who, what, when, where, why, how.

Yo! Found your channel through one of Baby Seal's streams, awesome stuff! Jenova is one of my favourite topics in FFVII, I love a good Lovecraftian cosmic horror! 😁 I think the Crisis Core Ultimania confirmed that Jenova is actually intelligent, I found this on The Lifestream, I'll paste the quote 🙂 "Jenova The “life form excavated from the earth” mentioned in the “Ancients Project Outline” document in Scene 03-18 refers to “Jenova”, an intelligent life form known as the “calamity from the skies” which crashed into the Knowlespole on a meteorite approximately 2000 years before. Jenova has an instinctive drive to destroy planets, and utilising its abilities to inject a virus into its target and transform them into monsters, and to mimic other forms according to its opponent’s thoughts, it drove the Ancients to near extinction. It was later sealed away by a counter-attack by the Ancients, and remained dormant in the ground until it was exhumed 30 years ago." Seems that it's both intelligent and instinctual! Looking forward to part 2 🙂

Yeah i remember reading before that it was viewed as an intelligent life form, but what we see in it's actions resembles a virus or a parasite of some sort and it just set me off down a little path. It could be that these are Shinra's assessments based on the fact what they found had a humanoid esque form. But it's also extremely possible that it was intelligent then and even now. My guess would be that it was an intelligent being back then, but now Shinra have just been working with the remnants of Jenovas power. But that instinctual drive Jenova had compels it's various parts to gather (reunion) and may even impart the urge to consume and move on (hence Sephiroths plan) Either way it's one of the more interesting points in all of FFVII and i really hope we get some additional details about Jenova in the Remake Project going forwards! Also hey! Thanks for watching!!!

@@Sector6UK Oooh yes very good point! That info could certainly be another case of the unreliable narrator, we do see a lot of that in FF7 after all! I just remembered that Jenova has a small piece of dialogue in the OG, it calls Cloud a puppet: "Because you are... a puppet", I guess that implies some level of intelligence? Oh also if you haven't yet seen the 4 pieces of Mobius artwork for Jenova I recommend checking them out, freaking awesome stuff! Looking forward to seeing what they do with Jenova in Rebirth & part 3 😁

I've been doing some research regarding Sephiroth and the book Sepher Sepheroth, and I suspect I might have found the origins behind Jenova in a demon known as "Choronzon". Choronzon has no form and is known as the dweller of the abyss and it feeds on the negativity and empty space within our minds similar to "Gilligan". There are numerous depictions of Choronzon, some of which bear a resemblance to Bizarro Sephiroth. Applying all of this back to the lore, I'd say the abyss is where Jenova comes from (remember Bugenhagen's demonstration with the meteors) and the Harbinger is the entity that is formed to reap the harvest of geostigma. All of this has been a by product of my research of #49 (Marco) and his role Remake. One of the things that keeps coming up in this is the Qliphoth which is the antithesis of the Sephiroth. The etymology of that word means "empty shells" which is interesting considering the title of the last song.

@@Sector6UK Thanks, I’ve been working on this for while. I know I’m on to something. Sometimes I find stuff that hidden in plain sight. For example, today I was looking at the whispers description in the Ultimania and it just clicked. To see what I’m talking about, take a look at the original artwork for the whispers, then take a look at Jenova’s (humanoid) form. Incidentally, I also believe I found the inspiration for the Jenova Effigy, in the Winged Goddess of Samothrace. Which is the goddess of victory. This is to say that it had the power to determine who would win in battle. (I wrote a Reddit article on this btw) Given what I have so far, I strongly suspect that Jenova’s humanoid form is that of an ancient and/or goddess that has been corrupted. That would explain a lot of things. Particularly why those injected with Jenova cells take both divine and corrupt forms. Because the source is just that.

@@Sector6UK I was just looking through picturing the past and came across the rat and the coiled tail. It made me think of the Thoth Tarot card for "Death" which symbolizes reincarnation through the abyss.

So here's my hot take-- and I say hot-take because it's widely ignored and dismissed. We do technically get Jenova influence in Dirge due to the corruption that is taking over the world. First off, when the DG soldiers are scanning the citizens at the beginning, you'll notice some are pure and some are tainted. The tainted are those who had/have geostigma. But Jenova's influence doesn't stop there. There is a discussion between stagnant lifestream and corrupt lifestream. And while most people dismiss it and say they're different, I really don't think so. That would imply there are three 'entities' if you will. One stagnant, one corrupt, and one pure. Narratively speaking, there is always a good side and bad side. Not a third neutral one. Also, the stagnant lifestream is what creates Chaos and Nero, and Nero feeds on negativity, which is literally the same stuff that Sephiroth wants to create to 'infect' all of the planet. There's a lot more I can say but I'm just saying that stagnant lifestream and corrupt lifestream (personally) are one and the same to me. As a matter of fact, there was an interview regarding Nero in the recent Ultimania that helps clarify this as well but I'll have to find it again. So in that sense, assuming Stagnant lifestream is corrupt lifestream, this is why it is a huge plot point that Omega doesn't escape the planet, because in that moment, Omega contained corruption-- aka Jenova/Sephiroth's influence. So in a sense, had Omega successfully escaped, so would have Sephiroth and Jenova in essence.
@Sector6UK2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the corruptions already well in place on Gaia now and it makes complete sense for that corruption to have either come from Jenova or at the very least been manipulated and exacerbated by Jenova. I meant more that we don't actually see any direct activity from either Jenova or Seph but Jenovas influence is definitely everywhere on Gaia by the time we reach Dirge.
@rzxwm10 Жыл бұрын
@@KaosKrool "She was forced to summon Omega..." Are you referring to Gaia here? Gaia's fate is sealed... meaning it will be consumed by the corrupted lifestream, which is Jenova's goal, but EoC Sephiroth wants to stop this from happening....is that correct?
@enjolraslechimiste2 жыл бұрын
The Sephiroth/Jenova relationship requires tons of speculation; facts are few. Sephiroth changes drastically in FF7; did he do that BECAUSE he had power, or was Jenova manipulating him toward that moment in Nibelheim? Did we ever "really" fight Jenova in the original, or were they always manifestations of Jenova? Both of these questions are important. I don't think we ever really fought Jenova; its power is splintered over its cells, over too many people. Sephiroth, IMO, has the highest density of Jenova cells. Jenova therefore exerts the most influence on him, and he is a hybrid of "original Sephiroth" (meaning a normal child of Lucrecia/Hojo)) and Jenova. Sephiroth is, IMO, Jenova's "flagship" amidst the "fleet" of infected people. But I have no direct facts to support this.

I think Jenova manipulated Shinra as much as anybody else. She used people’s memories, like you said, and influenced them. Why else would they think she’s an ancient when she obviously looks otherworldly? Jenova used their greed and the idea that there is a promised land to get her out of her jail cell. Thanks for the vid!

Sector 6 im two weeks late but my prediction is this. The final boss may not be sephiroth. It might be jenova. And zack being alive might be the key to finishing her off once and for all. I suspect that theyll access jenova in the lifestream after seph is defeated and then finish her off cleansing the lifestream of the negative one. Itll make everyone who has jevova cells free from them. Which means cloud and genesis will no longer have the power of Soilder 1st class. Theyll be normal humans with strong fighting abilities and cloud wont be influenced by her anymore. That would be the ending.
