As someone who has worked on vehicles in -20 and colder (had to replace a blower fan in -30 on the crappiest car you could ever lay eyes on, and I've had to work on Too Drunk To Truck in the cold several times), I appreciate your dedication to the build. Unfortunately, not all of us can work in heated shops or places like California. If you want to work on a project car in Canada, you just have to be ready to be cold sometimes.

At bike shops we have special snips for cutting cables and housings so they don't fray. You could probably pick up a pair from park tools.

Dave, stacking socks doesn't work for some people for a couple reasons. One; it's possible for multiple pairs of socks to make your feet sweat and once they're even a little damp, good luck warming them. Two; insulation is about creating a warm air barrier, and if there's no room for air (e.g. sock material is compressed or tight fit between sock and boot) it'll feel less warm. Personally, a tight fit constricts circulation so my feet can't generate much heat to begin with. You guys are champs for working in those temps, I did a basic intake swap in -10 and hated it.

Wow, I never knew how hard the Jenveys are to fit. The Toda ones are amazingly simple (I'm sure that's not helpful :D) as they already have vac tappings, no issues with coolant neck clearance, TPS already fitted, and the throttle linkage is already installed and you can use the OEM cable. Impressed with your skills though :D

I just got the Under TB kit for my Datsun 280 so I could straighten out my cable from an S to a straight line. It took me an hour to figure out how to put it together (they actually sent me the wrong diagram) , and by the time I did, I realized they has sent me some wrong parts that didn't fit, and it took me weeks to try to get them to understand which parts I needed even though I sent them several pictures and diagrams. I've spent hours since then trying to figure out how it's gonna work with my set up, since my needs are reversed from all the diagrams. But I think I've finally figured it outI

Used the same throttle quadrant and it was a PITA - you would expect it to fit perfectly as they were all from the same supplier (Jenvey), but nooo.... I see you used the single cable version - I went for the twin cable in the expectation that I would use the second for a choke/fast idle cable. Never got round to it, but it's rare to get a frost here, let alone properly cold. After you cut the cable end (use SHARP side or end cutters) and slip the barrel over the end, re-trim it and use a piece of heatshrink over the end to prevent fraying and the sharp end cutting/scratching you.

Slowly but surely, the project is coming along! Loving this series! There's one little thing though. I remember seeing you put teflon on the return line fitting on the FPR. Hopefully that was not regular teflon... ? If it is, it will be munched up by the fuel (talking by experience) and filaments will flow in the return line back to the fuel tank. Not cool. You'd be better off with either nothing, or an O-ring, that could work if you won't trust the NPT threads. Or fuel grade teflon if you can find some.

+Paul Downs Yuen definitely a custom job. It was designed for the F20C in Caterhams or race cars, so wasn't really ever intended as a direct bolt-on solution for the S2000. However, we will put together a complete list of instructors and pics to show how to do it yourself. It's really not too bad and it's actually lots of fun, but would be more fun to do in the summer. Haha

Have you guys tried a propane forced-air heater? They're super cheap at around $100, and they're amazing at heating garage sized spaces. The only downside is that it needs a bit of space to operate safely and propane refills, of course.

On the cable...when you are going to cut a cable, you can lead solder where you are going to cut it. That will hold the wires in place. Cut with a cutoff wheel

+Speed Academy I have looked at you alignment thread. Great info and if I had an s2k I would start with your specs as a baseline. I wish tire manufacturers did a better job of telling customers what target temps where for optimum grip. it would make tuning tires much easier. Also I'm sure a few of your fans track fwd cars and I get the whole fwd=wrong wheel drive. But lets be honest a lot of people do own these cars an track them. maybe for the future consider buying a fwd project car. I'm sure it will draw even more fans to your channel. consider something like mazdaspeed3, focus/fiesta st, Manual trans GTI. The hothatch market is often ignored and I think its something that is becoming more and more popular everyday because of practicality and fuel economy concerns. Thanks a lot guys

+Jadon Ghereben yes, ITBs should allow us to jam more air into the combustion chambers, since we now have four 50mm throttle bodies instead of just one 62mm TB. We should pick up some top end power and quite a lot of mid-range power, plus an epic induction noise. As you'll see in the next video, we do add a giant air filter to the system to protect the engine from ingesting any rodents, sparrows, or non-living debris that happens to find its way into the engine bay ;)

Little trick for cutting throttle cables is to throw some electrical tape around it then cut through the tape an the line keeps it from fraying

I would suggest that you use thread locker on the cable end. Last thing you want is to lose the gas pedal under full throttle conditions at full load

Basically this channel is mature in its attitude, even if we're all just boys and girls at heart playing with our big toys, and that's what you're gonna get on the back end.

Tip for working on a car while its cold, if you have snow outside, rub your hands with it and wait 10 minutes before starting to work, and you will fool your body into sending extra blood to your hands thus making them warm, but keep in mind if you do this often you will damage your hands. Also holding a cup of coffee will ruin the effect pretty fast.

+Carl Basson i like to tape them a few MM back from the end and then tin the cable with some solder to keep it from unraveling. that and cut with an abrasive wheel to avoid crushing the cable and makin them pointy bits point all over.
