The actor who is playing Finn right now is incredible! His performance is so nuanced. He’s so much more threatening than the original actor who played Finn as well. He really feels like he can fuck you up. He also has some valid points about his siblings. He honestly has a right to be mad that they kept him daggered for so long.

It's real subtle there but in the flashback, the moment Mikael cut off the necklace Klaus grew ANGRY. He finally was reacting like a normal werewolf and nearly killed him.

I think all of the siblings (minus klaus since the daggers don’t work on him) have every valid reason for being angry about being daggered. However, Finn I believe never really had the opportunity to learn how to be a vampire. He went from being an older brother to being stuck in a box. He wasn’t dead, I think that would’ve been easier for him, but to be alive and stuck in a box that long would make anyone act the way he does.

Caspar Zafer, the original Finn, basically went into semi-retirement from acting (he legit got depressed and fell out of love for the craft; he's also a much better stage actor). Honestly, after seeing him in some other stuff, I genuinely feel like the writers just didn't give him much to do on TVD-which I get the story wasn't about him. He briefly gets back into acting later on, but quit again for personal reasons. He actually did a lot of fun stuff on the side, including some extreme sports, canoeing, and kayaking. He even broke a world record when he wasn't acting. The Hollywood showbiz isn't for everyone I guess. On that note, Yusef Gatewood did a fantastic job as "new" Finn/Vincent. He brought life into the character that was as dull and insufferable as Elijah pointed out😂. The man just draws attention with his underrated talent. Then there's, Daniel Sharman. He is a charismatic and funny actor. He carries a similar energy to Nathaniel Buzolic (OG Kol), but still managed to do his own thing. Plus a lot of people recognize him from Teen Wolf.

Yh I think Daniel casting was great because you can still feel like it’s the same Kol and the same character, tho he does add his own flare to it I def prefer Vincent as Finn but it makes it really hard to see him as the same character. Tho you’re right he barely appears in tvd so he didn’t have much to work with. Still they feel like two completely different characters to me. Maybe putting on an accent might have helped a little 😂 Also the whole body jumping with different accents never made sense to me and always annoyed me. Like if you’re in someone else’s body you’re still gonna speak the same😂 you’re throat isn’t structured differently lmao

In terms of verbage, vocal inflections, and speech patterns, it would make sense them sound the same fter body jumping. , However, the accents wouldn't necessarily remain. There is socio-cognitive and physiological aspect to one's accent. The mouths, vocal cords, jaw muscles, and neck muscles of the bodies they jump into are all used to moving a certain.

They actually did want to bring back the Original Esther (Alice Evans) for more than just flashbacks, but she was mostly unavailable due to being well into the later stages of a pregnancy 😅. Even still, she managed to film a few scenes as a favor to the showrunners.

I think the point of revisiting the same storyline is because we never got the full fledge backstory from ester or any info for that matter it was just there in TVD but here on TO it will be more info.

The conversation at dinner is just amazing and Klaus having the realization that Esther purposefully made him weak WHEW she really is at fault for everything. This is one of the best episodes in my opinion. The writing is **chefs kiss**

@@johnwalkeristhatdude3018 Well no she can't control Mikael but she is the one that had the affair, then decided to lie about, then decided to physically make her son weak instead of coming clean about her affair, and not doing anything when Mikael was abusing him. She knew what he was doing was wrong and she knew why yet she kept it a secret. And then decided to turn her children into monsters and then punish them for her mistakes. So no she didn't make him beat anyone but she also orchestrated a lot of the bullshit.

The necklace is lovely representation of Marcel and Klaus's bond. Dinner scene is great. Finns actor really brings life and energy to the character, great performer. Esther's betrayal would hurt so much more than anything Mikal could do to Klaus, she was his only loving parent, his safety from his fathers abuse. Joseph does a beautiful job as always.

When Mikael cut off Klaus’ necklace and saw the rage Klaus said his face changed like he registered something. I think that was the moment he knew Esther cheated and that Klaus was half werewolf

One thing that is unfairly neglected is Joseph's acting in this episode!!! His talent is PHENOMENAL and the dinner scene is one of the many scenes that highlight it. Gives me goosebumps EVERY time. The intensity,his expression, the script and honestly everything!! Joseph himself also said recently,in a tweet, that the "look at me" was off script and an improvisation of his because the actress kept looking away. This man's talent knows no bounds! The whole scene is mindblowing!!!!

Joseph's acting in this was g-tier as well when venting to his mother, alongside finn's actor. Also ik you dont read every comment on every vid so I'll say it again that they brought them back because they like to treat this show like you never watched tvd / like its own thing, which is why they explained how compulsion worked and stuff in ep 1 & 2. So bring that mindset into this, a lot of people only watch TO or watch it first. But generally, I agree with your view

Not really because the Bennett witches also practiced earth magic. It is stronger than ancestral magic because it is a constant and cannot be cut off like ancestral magic can. Take the ancestral link away and the witch has nothing. Bonnie Bennett can go anywhere and practice magic, but New Orleans witches can't. They're bound to that city alone where all their ancestors are.

GOSH I said so much when you first started TO but... I cannot stress how much I love every single kinship moment on this show and the development and thought that goes behind it. Its written so well, it always feels earned whether or not you agree with the direct dynamic/circumstances of it, and in this case I'm talking about the way Klaus and Hayley have developed this banter and this common ground while Elijah and Marcel are slowly doing the same after these huge rough patches for both. Also again, Yusef's portrayal of Finn is top tier to me. Like someone else said, he has incredible range... and jeez I think the way he's shown doing magic is my favorite. I rewatched that scene of his casting a spell on Oliver so many times my first watch (and ok, every watch after lol) bc the damn subtle confidence was so cool... just rubbing his fingers and looking bored. Epic and terrifying, like when Elijah or Klaus just look calm when a bunch of people try to face them down lol.

First of all we didn't had these conversations between original siblings in TVD, so this is completely new and in TVD since they were not the main protagonist, the original characters were nerfed, like Rebecca acting like teenage bimbo and kol getting bested by damon and worst of all 2 originals killed by humans literally, matt and Jeremy, this was bad writing from tvd side, as there is no way you introduce such powerful characters and nerf them to justify plotline.
