Jeremiah, I just wanted to suggest to you that, a very simple and cheap down converter can be fabricated that will allow you to use power tool batteries to run this fridge. I have about 25 Ryobi 18+ batteries and got significant run times, using the cooler indoors, running eco, -4, -4, in other words, using it as a deep freeze with 30 lbs of frozen food inside, and I got 1 1/2 hours with a 2ah battery, 3 hours on 4ah, 4 1/4 hours on 6ah. and 7 hours on a 9ah battery. Even with the cheap Chinese knockoffs of the Ryobi 9ah battery, which tend to act more like 6ah batteries, I got 4 1/2 hours and those are much cheaper than Ryobi 6ah batteries. Thought you might like to look into it. I'm sure the same down converter could be made for the Ryobi 40 volt system or any other tool battery format. Nice review, very comprehensive. You even pointed out that the cutting board is held in place when used on top off the lid. Every reviewer fails to point that out. Some don't even notice it locked under the lid. I'm going to try your double door hack. I have some of that polystyrene sheeting, that goes under vinyl siding, that I think will work.

my Euhomy TW45( Same Thing Pretty Much) is due for delivery today and I've been looking at the prices of the battery and concluded (like others) that a smaller Solar generator could be had for the Price of this $200 Battery. I have an Ecoflow Delta Pro but its Also 100lb so a more versatile solution popped into my head. Come to find out its your idea except I have a Single M18 5ah Topoff and 15x Hart 20v Batteries as well as an Hart Inverter with 110v outlet. If they Perform as Well AS their TTI cousins Ryobi Batteries Im in Business for at Least a Full Day Off Grid. I have just as Many 5ah 40v Hart Batteries as Well and they make an inverter for that too that im suddenly very interested to try out 😏

I think that you will find that using a buck converter to step the voltage down to 14 volts, on a tool battery, will be a lot more efficient than using the battery with its low power inverter to drive the cooler's AC to DC conversion brick to get back to 14 volts. My tests with the Ryobi 150 Watt inverter yielded much lower run times and I think it's because of all the conversion loses. I would also suggest that a medium sized LiFePO4 battery connected directly to a clip-on cig socket will be lighter and way more efficient than any "Solar Generator's" inverter circuit with your cooler's wall adapter, assuming that the cooler comes with a cig socket male plug. Just my 2 cents, but it is based on my own testing. @@allenjohnson4938

@@mrhalfstep i think saw the “buck” converter your talking about on a short for an m18 battery. Just as you say i assumed it would drastically lower the output (and the battery lifespan maybe) with the 150 Hart and 175 m18 Topoff but i already have them and was curious as to their efficacy. Il see if pricing the new LiFePO4 and 12v clip as opposed to a Ecoflow River 2 or something similar if i find a decent price. All i know is the Battery makes sense just not at its $200 price point.

On the coolers that I have seen that use that snap in battery, they have all required the battery to be in place to run the cooler directly plugged into a solar panel.The panel charges the battery in its compartment on the cooler when the sun is out and the compressor is off. When the compressor kicks back on, running that takes priority over charging the battery. That back and forth goes on until the battery gets charged. After that point, the battery is essentially running the compressor and the solar panel is replacing the juice as it leaves the battery, keeping it fully charged until the sun goes down, at which time the battery will run the cooler, but will run down overnight. The sun comes out and starts charging and running all over again. I think a single 100 watt panel and the battery can run the cooler constantly around the clock, with good sunlight. The charge controller in the cooler must deliver the solar input directly to the charging pins on the battery and then through the battery to the compressor because nothing happens with a solar panel if there isn't a battery installed too. That would be one reason to justify the cost of the battery. It's the only reason I bought one. Haven't tried using a solar panel yet. @@allenjohnson4938

Thank you. As long as the open circuit voltage of the panel is lower than the max voltage the cooler can accept then it would work. I would not charge the battery directly from the solar panel.

Mine isn't getting to the set temps. I set both at 37, one went down to 28 and the other was 41. Later the big side was around 32 and the other side was around 30. Not sure if temp sensors are bad or what's going on but can't really tell temps, I'll need to get thermometer to see if the displays are correct or not. If they are, then the temp control is not working.

i have an ecoflow 160w panel. is it ok to use it directly on the port or it's better to hook it to 12v socket of my portable (ecoflow delta mini) with solar connected to the portable battery?

I would not connect it directly to the port on the battery but it is ok to connect it to the cooler port as long as your open circuit voltage of your solar panel doesn’t exceed the max voltage limit of the cooler. Keep in mind as I mentioned in the video you do need to have the battery installed in the cooler for it to run from the solar input.

Yes as long as you stay under the Max voltage input but as I stated in the video you do need the battery installed to use solar.

I’ve seen that same video and I’m definitely cautious with it now. I only charge it in the cooler Or with a separate charger but never directly with a solar panel. I have been using it with the battery without any problems.

Are those batteries a standard size for the particular coolers cause I just bought an alpicool, TW 55 and a rock and rocker TW series 59 quart and I just took a chance on Amazon because there was only one battery that I could get on there please let me know somebody out there in KZbin land I wish I could do these reviews because I’m a trucker and I take this thing out weekly it’s on it gets worked like a rented pack mule my first I’ll be cool lasted a few days before the one-year warranty was up. Got a replacement that lasted two years so I’m on my third one and I took a chance and bought a different style by rock and rocker just cause I don’t want to get caught out there and by the time it’s time to buy a cooler they are so far in a way over priced. I paid $247 for my first one which was a T 6063 quart and it gets expensive at these truckstops for food so it’s a whole lot cheaper overall buying one of these things.

It depends on the design of your unit, but this battery does work in some other brands of coolers but I’m not 100% sure if it would work in yours or not.

It’s going to depend on what solar panel you use but I would not plug it directly to the battery like I showed in this video. Plug the solar panel into the cooler and charge the battery that way.

Nice review but horrible on the company to send out a review product with horrible packaging. If anything they should make sure the packing on their product it double boxed with foam around product. Especially for such a high price item. I also noticed 4 circle on the topof the cooler. It would have been nice if they made those cup holders that keep your drink cold as well. Not a good look at all.

The cooler was packaged with foam on top and bottom however FedEx tends to bang up packages a good bit throwing them around upside down on and everything else so I wouldn’t blame newair for the shipping damages. At least they sent a replacement with no problem.
