This is so true. I was in Italy and not just that there was no speed limit signs but neither police or Italians knew what was the limit when I asked. I was driving 4000km around Italy and some 100km before I reached Slovenia I realised what are actually speed cameras. I was pretty sure it's going to become a lot more expensive trip but no, I actually got no fines or tickets
@Gentleman...Driver3 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of signs. Everrywhere, and a lot of speed cameras as well (and fake ones for some reason). But nobody cares actually. There are rarely pedestrians on the main streets of a village or little town or something. They all know to avoid it. Even some cyclist like it when you have a nice car and you overtake them. Autostrada has become a little more strict, tho. And I wouldnt recommend to go too fast as a tourist. Just stick to the locals, drive behind one. They are flashing all the time to the left to signal that they want to go faster but somebody is blocking him. So there is no need to be on their bumper. Italians always go as fast as their car allows it. If you have a nice, sporty car you may get away with speeding. Happened to me a few times that the cops just wanted to see the car, and then told me to go faster, or at one time they wanted to see if they can catch me on a mountain road with their Punto police car (which had a rear spoiler).

I'm in Italy now. I have asked numerous locals the speed limit on some roads, they don't know. There are orange speed camera huts all over. I've walked by several and there is NOTHING in them. I've gone 80km in a 50km zone and still get passed by cars even with solid white lines and some have passed me in left-turn lanes. At 145km on the Auto Strata, they are still passing me. Tailgating is the norm too. Fun times!
@nicoladc892 ай бұрын
In Autostrada is basically impossible to violate the speed limits more than a half of the all autostrade in Italy is covered by SIVCE that automatic measure the average speed of the vehicle for some km. So you can go at 150 for a while but if the average speed at the end of the checked stretch of road is higher than the limit you get automatically fined. The real problem is notifying fines abroad, especially in some countries that do not share vehicle data (Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, Austria, UK after Brexit etc.).

paella is an arabic word "bakaya" that means leftovers back in islamic spain kings or rich people used live some of their food to their servants to take home mosltly chiken and rice they mix that later with vegetable for tourists is a fancy dish but its just like any leftovers
@90skid973 жыл бұрын
The Spanish word paella means the round frying an in which it is made. It may have it's roots in middle eastern cuisine but everywhere it says it's a very traditional Valencian dish. I'm not Spanish but I know they grow a lot of rice in that region. Either way the Spanish islamic period started over a millennia ago, most of their traditions and culture today are very much rooted in Spain, with a twist of Arabic here and there.

On highways (or motorways as they're called in some countries), the speed limit is 130km/h, but speed cameras are placed on big gantries that you can see from a mile away, so you know when you're about to get close to one and can just slow down, pass under it at the speed limit and then accelerate again. Another trick (I've never tried it myself, but I was told it does work sometimes) is to stay in the middle of the road right across the dotted white line. That's because the cameras are set up to only take photos if they detect you going too fast in your lane, but if you're sitting on top of the dotten line in between two lanes, you technically trigger both cameras at the same time, but the software used for this cannot do copy and paste stuff, so the police legally can't just have two photos of you with only half your car in them, crop them and merge them together to read your license plate, thus the speed ticket is considered void and can't be notified to you for a fine. This is not as easy to do as it sounds though, you have to be exactly in the middle, which you can't always do while you're driving on a highway, especially if it's busy with a lot of traffic. And then of course most cars nowadays have sat navs, so you can download 3rd party maps for free (to replace the ones that come from your manufacturer) which are updated quarterly with the location of speed cameras, speed limits, road works and the like.
@cosminmihu99633 жыл бұрын
Every latin country is the same. In Romania as well. It's 130. We just drive how we want. If you use Waze and watch for police you get away with much faster speed. I cross a 150 km section of highway at constant 220-250 kph when I'm in a hurry :)).
