I tried this today and let me tell you I will never cook rice and peas on the stove top again . This took 30 mins in total to cook. Pressuring the pre soaked peas 15 mins and cooking the rice another 15. Your measurements were spot on as well. Thanks!!!

This is the only way I cook my rice& peas now. The only difference is I let mine slow release without turning the pot off, until it says LO25. But this looks perfect!

Hi really interesting video, I was wondering is the method mentioned different if you use long grain rice..?
@JerenesEats Жыл бұрын
In the instant pot, it's 1:1 ratio for liquid to rice. For brown rice, it may need a little more but I haven't cooked brown rice in it yet

I've never cooked brown rice in my instant pot buy I suspect you'd need more time or more liquid

Sometimes I have brown rice which takes longer to cook. So when I use this for rice and peas, I use the pressure cook Normal setting instead of Rice. I never tried the Rice setting so I don't know how that would turn out.

Hi! If using canned beans, how many cups/cans would be equivalent to the yield of one cup of dry beans?
@JerenesEatsАй бұрын
Hi! Lemme make this easier for you ➡️Here's the tutorial for using canned beans/peas kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5rYZJx3abNreqMsi=V4gOTpfGfP1kZ-s_
@JerenesEatsАй бұрын
A 15 oz can of beans is equal to about 1/2 cup DRY beans

If I want to use canned beans. what would the ratio be? 1 cup rice, 2 cups water, 1 cup bean, 1 cup coconut milk?
@JerenesEats10 ай бұрын
Yes for rice on the softer side you may do that OR you could just match the amount of liquid to rice which would be 1 cup rice 1/2 cup coconut milk 1/2 cup water 1 cup beans

I keep having rice stuck at the bottom of mine but I also have a different model IP. I do use 1:1 ratio so Not sure what I'm doing wrong

Whenever I use pressure cook setting it sticks. Whenever I use the rice setting it doesnt stick

@@JerenesEats that must be it

@@islandspice411 Yeah and sometimes there's too much starchy stuff on the rice as well. Once it's washed till the water is completely clear that really helps too🙂

Low or high pressure for the bean?

I'm using the lux mini. Just select pressure cook

This didn't turn out too well for me. The rice was cooked but was too moist. I used a 15 oz can of beans, a 13 oz can of coconut milk, 3 cups of water and 3 cups of rice. The beans were drained. I just used the rice setting on the instant pot.
@JerenesEats2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. I always suggest just 1 cup of the coconut milk because the 13 ounce can = 1.6 cups

Hi, what I did, is after the rice setting and it was moist, I then pressure cooker for 4 mins
