Effective jerkbaits that does not break the bank are always very interesting for me because i'm fishing mostly from shore. To thow a megabass and get snagged is way to risky when you can't go to the spot with the boat and retrieve it.

I agree 100% about the costs of some of these baits. You get hung up and break off even when not bank fishing and I would have a coronary every time I lost a $20+ bait. I'd love to see Matt or others break down what they think the best "discount" baits are (sub $10 for example). I know their sponsors love to sell the pricier gear, but it would be interesting to hear a professional's opinion on more low end stuff for us cheapskates who have to pay full retail prices (and justify our fishing budget to our spouses ;-).

I had some great success in MA in December on the Rerange MR- the deeper diver version fishing a 12 foot gut of the main basin. I only have 1 Berkeley Stunna but it also did well in the 6-8 foot water depth range. Looking forward to putting in more time with it after ice out. Matt- I really enjoy your channel and fishing advice / stories. Keep up the great work and I hope you have an awesome year.

That Shimano flash boost tech has been incredibly productive on tuna and other offshore game fish for a year or two now, hopefully it will prove to have similar utility in the bass world. The SP-Orca flash boost stickbait is a favorite of mine that might even have some utility for aggressive suspended bass. I have not gotten to throw the world minnow yet, but the stunna has been killing it for me and caught both a colossal (for northern VA) 5lb smallmouth and a 26” walleye as part of a super productive winter day. I like it a lot so far and am gaining a lot of confidence in it. One thing that really isn’t up for debate in my mind is that it casts significantly better than the 110s

Here's the truth, if they get that World Minnow to cut wider and to stay in the strike zone longer, then it would be great. For it to be perfect, they would have to build it on a platform that rolls heavy with this wide dash. That would make it awesome regardless of anything. That would get it to work, despite anything.

The world minnow is amazing especially in Florida. The bass love the flash. I have caught my PB smallmouth in Canada on the World Minnow. The gold and black color is a killer for largemouth bass in lakes with golden shiners. And for peacock bass, they can’t resist the flash boost either the World Minnow or the new Zumverno. Check out these baits next time you fish in Florida 😉

I have a couple of World Minnows, they have not been in water. Shimano first introduced the flash boost technology in Orca a salt water series. The weight transfer system is solid and I’m excited about the Chart Head color in the World Diver which is clear with just a flash of chartreuse on the head. Shimano has also released World Pop a 3/8 ounce with flash boost.

The world minnow reminds me of a Lucky Craft pointer minnow in its shape and size. I was immediately drawn to the flash boost. I am intrigued by the Stunna and its thinner width now that you pointed it out. I have too many jerkbaits so I was going to pass on the Stunna but now I might pick up a few. We really are living in blessed times with some of these new baits. The 13 Fishing Loco Special is another stellar jerkbait.

I'll have to sit this one out- haven't used either bait. I hope the Stunna does really well because it would be great to have access to an affordable jerk bait that catches bass. 110s are awesome but they cost a fortune, the good colors can be near impossible to get, and everyone throws them. To have something effective that's relatively inexpensive and easily obtained would be really cool.

Oh hi, I’ve fished both of these lures for a few years. I field tested the stunna prior to its release and bought the world jerk/ world minnow when it was still over seas. You’re fishing the world minnow in the wrong scenarios, when it shines is when you need a slower presentation, and it’s sitting there for 5 seconds or more. The stunna does a heck of a lot 2-3 seconds after you crack it, the world minnow is going to catch you fish *huge exaggeration alert* 10 minutes after you crack it. The world minnow is always twitching, cold water, fickle fish, it performs very well. If anyone fishes a jerkbait the same as every other jerkbait, they are missing out. Some are junk, yes, but stunnas, rip stops, husky jerks, world minnows, x-raps, shadow raps, all of those are examples of jerkbaits that you fish completely different from one another.

Agree 100% with your assessment, the Stunna is the better jerkbait hands down! The ONLY place I rendered the Shimano effective was throwing past shallow targets, which honestly isn’t enough for me personally to tie one on in a tournament situation. My favorite jerkbaits are the V 110 and the yo zuri pins minnow, but this Stunna has entered the go to box because of that slashing/ darting motion and the depth’s it can reach. Great video as always!
@MattStefanFishing
@MattStefanFishing 2 жыл бұрын
thanks for sharing! I agree with the targets comment, but the thing is im generally not going to grab a jerkbait to fish an isolated target. there's usually a better technique for that.
@CardCollectorCody
@CardCollectorCody 2 жыл бұрын
@@MattStefanFishing You are right. When I throw a jerkbait I’m covering a lot of water quickly and sometimes just finding fish, and the stunna allows you to catch fish at depths that 95% jerkbaits wouldn’t reach. And the fact that Hank ( one of the best jerkbait fishermen on the planet) had a hand in the design already told me it was gonna be a special bait! I still tie on a 110 and 2.75 in Pins minnow because they are my confidence baits. Unfortunately I haven’t found a way to weight the Pins minnow without destroying the darting action so it’s a very shallow bait, but up here in P.A it can be unbelievably effective at times. The Stunna has become a go to as well, I’ve only been able to find the table rock color locally. But Im just about to order 4 different colors on tackle warehouse, I see there all in stock now!! I’m still new to the tournament scene and I really want to go pro someday, so I really appreciate your videos and tips! I've been so impressed with Stunna's slush motion and it catches fish! On the other hand, I don't like Shimano world minnow... its slush motion is very dull and hard (almost impossible) to make beautiful side-to-side slush motion. Matt, you're right it appeals to people and yes it caught me. I know that many Japanese lure companies are making jerkbaits which are good at wobbling. Their typical ads are like this, "We created new great jerkbaits! You don't need to jerk/twitch jerkbaits anymore(it's difficult, is it?), you just retrieve it and catch fish!!!". World minnow might be one of them.

The flashboost, has one purpose and purpose only, it's a active motion even when setting still. Even when real fish are still in place, the are active in motion. Flashboost adds that secondary motion to the lure. Matt Allen from tactical bassin has a video catching a four plus pound fish, 4 feet from the boat. Adding the factor in that most jerk baits that fish would have been gone seeing the boat. I've had it happened but I've also had fish about rip the rod out my hands to beside the boat or bank.

I am agreeing with you the Stunna does more of what you expect if you wanted to compare it to the mega bass 110 it definitely is right there with it plus the price range is a lot lower. They had him at Academy outdoors for nine dollars I thought that was the regular price so I went back to buy more and they were 1499. But they gave me the price that I got yesterday. I wish I’d bought more. Great Jerkbait I got friends that are used in Stunna and they love it

Stunna was on my list to purchase last year just couldn't find. MB 110 is a killer JB but i've had great success on Fox River (IL) with my own airbrushed JB. River JB fishing in Fall/Early Winter doesn't require as refined bait as MB 110. Biggest issue with JB fishing rivers is bill durability...both MB 110 and lure blanks struggle with bill durability. Question Matt...you mention your JB Rod Build is a MHX-NSJ813 and you use WINN grips but i wondering if you can share you Rod BOM. I use a St Croix Eyecon 6'-8'" Med Ex Fast but want to make a customer JB Rod. curious to understand your reel seat and guides.

Here's the thing, I fish the jerkbait in the spring, summer, and fall. I have everything from Lucky Craft, Megabass, Smithwick, Rapala, and Jackall. My biggest producers last season where the Jackall Rerange and the Rapala Ripstop hands down. Honorable mention is the Rapala shadow rap shad, the thing is a multi species slayer in the summer. I'll be trying the world minnow and stunna this season. Late to the party but they where hard to get can't wait to toss both around. As far as staying power both will be here to stay

I have been fishing with all of them (Megabass, Stunna, World Minnow)both shallow and deep versions. I like all of them and have been successful with all of them. The WM when I paused it one sunny afternoon along a bluff wall to take a bite of a granola bar, WHAM!!!, I thought a Greyhound bus hit me. I almost lost my rod. Maybe it was the flash of the bait I don't know. Because when it's still in the water the internal piece moves sending out a flash. Something different. Anyhow I like all three and have changed out my jerkbait box with these baits.

I got the regular stunner pretty early I had a handful of them when fall kicked off well not when it kicked off but about Midway through fall I got them and my top three jerk baits have been at Berkeley product the strike King KVD and the megabass vision 110 I don't throw much outside of that and like I said before on these videos I think the Berkeley stunna is neck and neck with the mega bass vision 110 I got some of the plus ones a month ago and fish them all through December caught a load of fish on them. They're all going to have their day when I first started fishing jerk baits all I owned were kvds and nowadays to be honest I rarely tie a KVD on but there are still days where even a KVD will out produce the mega bass or the Berkeley. Those world minnows look really cool with that flash technology in them.

I don’t either will be a flop both companies have some good technology in those baits. The jerkbait market there are tons of good ones.
