Stay strong Jerry. I was lucky enough to grow up on one of the best and most overlooked territories there ever was, Don Owens Portland Wrestling. The first wrestler I ever met when I was a kid was Jerry, he was so nice. He signed my autograph and took a picture with me for free, I'll never forget how awesome it was to be a 8 year old kid meeting a real life pro wrestler. Jerry is one of the good guys in the wrestling business, stay strong & keep fighting Jerry! If anyone can help Jerry out with even just a few bucks he could really use the help, he has a go fund me account where you can help Jerry out. Stay strong Jerry!
@randyjohnson77342 жыл бұрын
yeah i grew up in the Don Owens too it was the longest running NWA territory from about 1951 or so to 92 or 93 and in reality it kept going after it just moved across the river to Vancouver with Sandy Barr. and its never really shut down now its wcwc with Grappler the head guy I think. Anyway one of the best and way overlooked yeah. Flair said Don was the only one that would give him the 10% the champ was sposed to getGood on you Tommy. I lived in Western WA and seen the Clan with Rip and Mean Mike Miller in Montesano and Aberdeen in centralia places like that then i lived in Vancouver in 03 when it was going again on marine drive.

I was the ref on the shows in Ohio to which Jerry is referring. We did three in a row. I can't remember where the first one was. The second one was Mansfield Ohio and the third was Zanesville at The Seacrest Auditorium which was where the disaster occurred. What I remember was the first two nights Jake was fine and I was surprised because he usually wasn't fine, but he was fine. He worked with Honky Tonk both nights and the matches were good. I ref'd Jake and Honky many times and they usually did the same match, HTM would jump him at the bell, and dominate the match for 10 or 12 minutes, then Jake would hit the DDT out of nowhere, the place would explode, and Jake would pin HTM and everyone went home happy. The third night in Zanesville Jake showed up really messed up. He stumbled into the building already bombed out of his skull. It was a really scary situation, because I was sure Jake was either going to die right in front of us or he was going to kill someone. But we all knew, there was no way he'd be able to work a match, which is why it became a tag with Jerry vs HTM and I think it was an Indy guy they called "Pat Patterson JR." Jerry says it was Valentine, but I don't remember Valentine being there. I also remember the snake being an albino (white) python. I do not remember the snake dying that night, nor do I remember Jake feeding it beer. I also do not remember him receiving a blow job by a young hot girl. I remember him being there with a lady who looked like she was old enough to be Jake's mom and I think she had a British accent. She was friendly as I recall, but she looked like she was 75 years old. I do not remember Greg Valentine being there, although he was usually on Jerry's shows. I remember The Bushwhackers, HTM, and Jake. Tatanka might have been there, and maybe The Rock N Roll Express. It was a bizarre night to say the least. I'm glad Jake got healthy, but back then I was sure he'd die any day now.

@@tjstrader7885 I corrected myself two years ago sir. The event was for UCW in Bayou LaBatre Alabama at the Bayou community center. I was 16 or 17 years old. It’s been 22 years so forgive me if I was off a year in my date. Anyone that’s lived in this area and worked around JYD (he worked as a substitute “retract” teacher in Louisiana back then) knew he was a crackhead. Buddy had the same issues going back to their Midsouth Days. It’s not exactly a brag lol. Anyone that attended local shows in this area back then has a JYD story. Not exactly a glamorous thing.

Oh, you cant..🤦🏼♂️ Anyway, add a smoke to that and be transported stright into parralel universe, an urban Mad Max mix with Fear and loathing in Las Vegas. But like western, featuring Ozzy & co. When i finally opened the comments, it all gradually started to fall in place, in the end himself mentioning wrestling. Turns out the performers themelves have more fun than spectators. The latter i never could understand. Such a reversed contrast between ring and reality, never expected.
