I only know Jerry Hadley from seeing his performances in KZbin and I am so sad that I never got to see him in person. Such a tragic and senseless loss to the world and to his family. This is probably my favorite interpretation of this aria which is performed so often that one could get tired of hearing it. In this version is sounds fresh and new. That ending is masterful, it gave me chills.

Absolutely gorgeous singing. His voice is simply a beautiful sound perfectly produced. Beautiful line. Excellent, clear, crisp diction. Healthy, natural free vibrato. A bright, ringing, open, clear sound produced with full energy, engagement, and ease. Even throughout. And on top of all of that, heartrending in his simple, straightforward, honest feeling. This is top world class musicianship, performance, vocalism, and singing.

I watched him perform this opera and I'll never forget how beautifully he sang this while lying down on his side, his propped up on his elbow. It's the only time a singer's performance made me cry.

I found Jerry Hadley on KZbin, never had heard of him before, but the firs time I heard him sing I knew he was special. Then I found out about his untimely death and was very sad to think this great singer had been lost to the world. This is a wonderful performance of Una Furtiva Lagrima.

I like what he's doing. It's unusual for me to hear such a clarity, power, projection, beauty of tone, all that "metal " and yet without any forcing. He sings so easy. Perhaps one can prefer other voices but he's doing great here I think.
@SilverSingingMethod6 жыл бұрын
My teacher built his voice from the beginning after University. It is all about talent getting the right training. People can prefer different timbres, but that has nothing to do with how well someone is singing. As you rightly allude to.

Had Hadley lived, would he had become a good vocal coach?
@Mr198415045 жыл бұрын
That depends, many really great singers cannot be great teachers, same thin in sport! My opinion, but this that not mean that his was not a really outstanding tenor, among the greatest!!!
@kyleaustin70455 жыл бұрын
@@Mr19841504 I'm in two minds about this. On one hand, his relationship with Tom LoMonaco, his interview where he talked about vocal pedagogy, his own showing of good technique and his reluctant to change it (he only changed the technique because he was forced to, he returned to his old self whenever he could) suggests that he might have been a good teacher. On the other hand, great singer might not be good teacher. He might not be able to understand what LoMonaco taught, or he might not be able to teach it because he might not know how to communicate effectively. I still think that he could have been a good teacher. Oh well...
