Vedder did an amazing job with this song but I can't thank Hannan enough for writing it. This is one of those songs that has moved me more than I can describe.

Had no idea this was a cover by Vedder, and I’ve been a fan of Into the Wild since I first saw it many years ago. Only discovered this was a cover and Hard Sun was originally by Indio! Eddie did a great job on both, excellent song choices for the soundtrack

But never forget that he changed the lyrics of Hard Sun. Which made Indio angry.

Losing my job because my sales aren't high enough. "Not a team player". It was inevitable, I'm not going to fool people into paying for more than they need. Just because the rules are written, doesn't mean playing by them makes you moral.

Hannan recorded his own song, "Society" with Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, which is featured in Sean Penn’s film Into the Wild. “I Thought I Was You”, written by Jerry and brother Sean Hannan also plays in Into the Wild.

as far as i understand the version on the film soundtrack is original version, meaning first released version. third take i guess. hannan wrote it for the 2007 film and played it together with eddie in the studio. this version by hannan was recorded later, 2013. correct me if i'm wrong here, just seems like many here are under the impression that this is the original version and the film version a cover, when it was actually a collaboration.

always thought this was eddie vedders song, I apologise Jerry Hannan, actually think his voice is more suited to the song as well, sounds better
@stephenforbes27627 жыл бұрын
No need to apologize. 1 because it's your (unhumble) opinion. 2 because Eddie Vedder is one of the best vocalists around. 3 because Eddie would have never sung the song with out Jerry Hannan's song writing ability. 4 because Jerry Hannan will never read your pretentious comment

So disappointed by Eddie Vedder, it's exactly the same song but not the same singer, I thought that Vedder had more sang this song with his interpretation but absolutely not, even the "solo" is exactly the same :/ I prefer this one now
@ttleahy8 жыл бұрын
+Jérémie BN_Choco I prefer this version too, but I give credit to Vedder for not changing anything. I think the song is perfect as it is and doesn't need his interpretation. I think it's a huge compliment to Hannan that Vedder had the opportunity to sing this song to a wide audience and kept it pure. I'm glad Vedder kept this masterpiece intact.
@Jeremie_le_couvert8 жыл бұрын
Yes, finally I agree
@stephenforbes27627 жыл бұрын
I'm sure Vedder is really concerned with your disappointment...God what the F is wrong with you stupid paople!!!
@eddievargas76806 жыл бұрын
But if it weren't for Vedder, you wouldn't even know this song existed. Paying homage doesn't always necessarily mean a unique interpretation. Sometimes, things should stay exactly the same.
