In my opinion, there’s a big misconception about Dabney and Lake Denham having no shopping. It seems a lot of people don’t wanna leave the bubble, but these two villages are very close to route 27 in southern Leesburg. There’s a Winn-Dixie, Publix, casual restaurants, at least four fast food, restaurants, and Ace Hardware, Chinese food, two pizza, restaurants, and many more things. All this is about maybe 2 miles from the lake denim and Dabney entrances to Route 470. And once Eastport is built, we are not too far from that. So people who wanted a real retirement village neighborhood would do well to look down here. You’ll be close enough to Eastport without having to deal with all the crowds, potential noise, etc. Instead, you will find two beautiful neighborhoods with peace and quiet.

We bought a house in Dabney last October and I’m always amazed that people say there’s no shopping here. We have a Publix 1.9 miles away and a new Aldi (replacing Winn-Dixie) coming soon. We love it here, it’s stress free, quiet, and no traffic. I feel like we live in the suburbs and it’s a short golf car ride to the cities (Brownwood & Sumter).

Just a heads up on the water heater under the sink. We’ve done the research and the measurements for under our sink, which is very similar to Peter’s layout, won’t fit the unit you’re linking to at Lowe’s. Only the 4 gal size will fit. You’re linked to the 8 gal size. Amazon has the 4 gal size for $169 currently. Also, there’s no electrical outlet under our sink except the one for the garbage disposal, which is a dedicated one, so the job will require a new outlet be installed too (at least in our case). Hope this helps! 😊

My heat pump had trouble doing its job last week when it was so cold. It kept my living room at 69 degrees (that’s what it was set at), but I’m never in my living room. My bedroom was 64 and the kitchen was 66.

Thank you for the great show. My wife and I have been in Newell for about 8 months. No complaints on lack of shopping. It is a fact of the economic cycle that homes and customers come first. It is unreasonable to expect business to open on the expectation of future customers. We cannot wait until Middleton and Eastport to open!

In February I am upgrading my HVAC to a Daikin Natural Gas Furnace and Daikin Fit AC and getting a Daikin mini split heat pump in garage. South of Lafayette Louisiana here we got 8 inches of snow last Tuesday. Thankfully it was back up to 70 Sunday and all snow melted. Tuesday night it went down to 4 degrees. Hard to believe was so cold. I just moved from Maryland last Spring by the way all houses built after 2010 have PEX plumbing unless custom built. Only my drain pipes are in the slab. All water supply PEX plumbing is in the attic and walls and is insulated.

There are also several plats along central parkway that will be retail. At the eventual intersection of central parkway and the turnpike there will be a huge retail complex in the upcoming years.

I do not like being around cigarette smoking either, but the “pot smell” is even worse! It’s legal in our state. It’s horrible. Someone in our neighborhood is always smoking it. The smell permeates everywhere. I used to work in a doctor office. We would cringe when a patient would come in “reeking” of pot. That smell takes a long time to go away. I don’t think the people who smoke it, realize how bad they smell.

It actually was down to 29 by Sawgrass. I have had not issues with my heat pump during the cold. I had it set to 73 and then lowered it to 72 because 73 was too warm and it even kept the lanai warm. I am wondering it your unit is a little undersized.

Our heat pump struggled to warm our home when we were at the coldest temps, so I had to increase the temp to 72. It’s definitely not the nice fast heat we got with our gas furnace in SoCal.

I still don’t understand why people think that we don’t have access to shopping and medical facilities, unless they live in an assisted living home. I agree with you Jerry about the homeowners having to pay for the docks & such at Sumter. As part of the plans the developers want a boat house where they can fix their boats which they charge $$ to go on. I would think since they are making $$ they should have to pay rent to the homeowners that own the space now. Fishing should be allowed & free as it is in most others ponds in TV.
